This was genius, the guy was gonna be the next Cully, aka easy penalty magnet for the shady refs to pounce upon. This guy was literally benched against Dallas, and cried like an entitled child over it. Dude was bad joojoo.
RR may turn into a very good player , but it's been about buying into this team. They are following through with what they said in the first place. They have no time or a player who won't buy in. Rr has so much talent. He's so young, it took josh Norman 3-4 years to become a decent CB. I wish him well but I want a good team!

same here. he's such a scrub.

He was a very active player, but he just can't stop grabbing! He definitely needs serious coaching techniques or just cut this fools hands off.

Yeah, I don't know.

Was it really the player? Or the bad coaching? Not tracking the ball, trail technique...,etc.

Certainly hope its the former.

6:08 mark. Saleh talks about what the CBs are taught to do when trailing. They are not taught to turn around. They are taught to play the hands of the WR. I think it's odd but the 49ers aren't the only team to do this. The CBs themselves just aren't good at it.

Thank you for finding this. I hate this technique so much for so many reasons. Sure, if you are naturally trailing and don't have time to turn around, read the body and get your hands up. Otherwise, let these CB's do what they've done their whole careers. It's why we drafted them.

Can we trade this clown of a DC now please....

Don't turn your head... hmmm
GRAB THE HANDS!! brilliant!!

I f*cking knew it. Literally coaching the corners to do this crap? I hope Witherspoon ignores these "instructions."
See yah
Think he will be a better fit in NY with their man to man scheme. Still has horrible technique, wish him well regardless...DB/OL will be the top priority in FA without question.

Throw some cash at trumaine Johnson please

I know. So infuriating. I was actually coached in a similar manner in college, it was frustrating. Totally goes against the instincts of an aggressive "it's my ball" defensive back. As I have transitioned to coaching, I've obviously NOT adopted this loser mentality.

Pete Carrol was this guy's mentor. His defense is a Seattle based scheme. Pete Carroll's background is defensive backs. So are the Seahawks coached the same way?

Agreed. By not looking back for the ball, how else can a CB punish the QB for under thrown balls (to INT)? I thought the point was to get a long CB, use his length to swat/INT passes.

They do play a lot of trail technique, but I see their CB's looking back. Plus they have an all-world FS in Earl Thomas, which makes it easier as a CAB.

Exactly. On most underthrown balls, the CB is going to get called for PI because he ends up running into the WR. The only advantage is it's better for not giving up long fades for touchdowns. But we've seen that's not worth the negatives that go along with it.
