im cool with both picks, hoped we could have kept the early 2nd also.

Maybe we can move back into the 2nd tomorrow

Find a way to get Jason Spriggs who can step in as a RT from Day 1 or Noah Spence and Baalke can pimp walk out of the building and leave the rest of the picks to Gamble.
spence seem to be tainted ?

A run-blocking guard that struggled in pass protection and was ranked lower than Garnett by basically everyone....I'm sure that was just a coincidence that they took the projected 2nd best run blocking guard in the draft right after the 49ers took the 1st.

Lmao people b*tching about the position last season and now that they upgraded that position some fans are still b*tching about it.

It's normal in the zone! People will always find a way to b*tch about something no matter what it is. They don't call Niner fans Whiners for no reason, lol.

we picked a good player that we did not need to trade up for. That's why we're b***hing

That's what I thought at first, but it looks like Seattle was high on him and was ready to take him with their 1st, they ended up picking a project with their 1st rd pick because we took their 1st rd target. That's why it was a well worth trade up to me.

In all fairness...Avis is their sponsor.
"I don't understand people not liking this move. We grabbed a starter at a position of severe need. We got a guy we rated #1 at his position."

I totally agree. And an aggressive strong guy to help set the tone. I like it.

I had a feeling we would draft Joshua Garnett when the reports came out that Chip Kelly spent a lot of time with him prior to the draft.

The only issue I have with the pick is that I don't think we needed to move up. We have no idea what ARI and SEA were really going to do with their picks.
And even if we had missed out on Garnett, there are some other potential starters available for the interior:

G - Cody Whitehair - Kansas St
G/C - Max Tuerk - Michigan St
G/C - Isaac Seumalo - Oregon St

I do like the fact that Baalke is willing to be aggressive in this draft though. That's a good thing going into Day 2 tomorrow.

While this is true, moving up like that meant that Baalke clearly had Garnett as the top player or OG on his board. He could have settled for one of those other players if he stays at #37 but this way you take the luck out of it and get your guy.
Because he likes big fat guys that can only run block and suck at pass blocking like mike iupati. More of the same mistakes of overreaching for the same flawed linemen.
It is a great for trade up becuase i am worry about teamns will draft to Joshua Garrett. Joshua Garrett is very important a player and good values!! Good job Baalke!
I like the pick but he wants to be a surgeon so the first concussion and he retires.

Look at other o linemen they drafted in the past. They do thing their own way
I heard Garnett on KNBR tonight, at first I thought they were interviewing Russell Wilson.

He's very Carlton-esque.
The 49ers count guard as one of their many positions of need and Garnett indicated he met extensively with their coaches at Stanford's pro day on March 17. He already knew Kelly, who recruited him when he was the head coach at Oregon and Garnett was at Puyallup (Wash.) High. "I've really built a relationship with the (49ers) coaches, which has been awesome," Garnett said.

Garnett's dad, Scott, was a defensive end who had a three-year, 27-game NFL career that included a three-game stint with the 49ers in 1985. Scott Garnett was an eighth-round pick of the Broncos in 1984 and also played for the Chargers and Bills, but Garnett said his parents are loyal to the 49ers.

"Dad's a huge 49ers fan," Garnett said. "Mom was ecstatic to hear that I was coming to the 49ers local pro day. She was really happy, so I've got to send here a picture of me in the (49ers) hat."
