That was a problem for Arik, he had to sit and couldn't get any reps. That probably set him back some. With a full off season and the strides Arik made last year and teaming with a more polished Buckner, If those two get together that is going to be a good cohesion.

Pretty sure he already graduated so it's not an issue for him

This is the only first round pick baalke got right in the past 4 years.

Reid, Ward, Armstead, all look to be part of a future core group to make another playoff run. Ward came on strong late last season and looked very good. Armstead should be a fulltime starter this year. Reid has been the best safety out of his draft class and a starter from Day 1.

all those guys are awful or average at best. lol

All of those guys? Well, one is a Defensive lineman (Armstead) who is most likely awful, but luckily doesn't have to shadow WRs. One is a safety who is average in coverage (Reid). One is a slot corner who was ranked as one of the best corners in the league during the last quarter of 2015 (Ward). Your failboat has arrived.

Or, simply, the last 5 games he has played in.

I mean, I get s**tting on guys that suck. But to bag on a young guy who strung together a serious stretch of great football? Really?

Great football ? really ? what did he do other than jump a screen pass vs the Bears other than that he didn't do jack all season.

people throw around the word "great" like its candy.

I don't know. Would being graded as the NFL's best CB during most of that stretch be considered great? Or maybe elite would be a better term? How can you even dispute this. It was literally one of only three or four positive developments regarding our defense last season. lol.

so he played 3 games that he played ok and now all of a sudden he's a "great" player ? Jimmie Ward was so good at CB then why are moving him to safety ?

I swear you'd rather root for SFs players to fail so you can prove you point than admit that someone like Ward actually got better... It's actually sad.

Now you are misrepresenting my argument.

I never said he was a "great" player. I said he had a "great" stretch of football over his last 5 games played. Can you refute that? Is your argument that the stretch of 3 games where he was rated as NFL's best CB by PFF, that he was "ok"? Sounds like you have a predetermined narrative. Too bad those pesky facts get in the way. Am I right? For whatever the hell it's worth, I'm excited about Ward, but he has a long way to go to become a great player. I'm just encouraged he's trending in the right direction. But that must be these rose colored shades I'm wearing.

Yes Im glad he's playing better but I thought you were saying he was great. I just think he still has a long way to go. To me he still hasn't justified his first round draft status.

Do you even pop tartt bruh?

The three you mentioned. Buckner, and wiliams, if he ever gets and stays healthy. could mean huge things for our d. A solid core. And we have a million young cb's with a lot of promise, Some solid rotational d line players. Our d is ready just needs a coach imo.

Tartt was drafted in the 2nd.

yes and williams was udfa i'm just making the point that the core is there.

Pdizo, CBS / NFL.com recently did an evaluation of last yrs draft. They rated AA as the 2nd best pick in the 2015 draft.
Buckner and Armstead are going to change the way coordinators call plays against us..they are going to be a dominant pairing.
