T.O. Is eligible for the H.O.F.

Dude is a first ballot and it shouldn't even be close. He's like the 3rd all time WR in yards and TDs, right?

2nd all time in TDs and the second greatest WR ever IMO!

Yes, TO is eligible for the HOF. Is he one of the top eight among those who should make it this year? No.

A major talent and an even bigger arse who ultimately wasted his talent. Should he get in one day? Maybe, but that's for the voters to decide.

wasted his talent by becoming one of the most productive WRs of all time

I completely agree
Because of the delay getting Cris Carter in the HOF, there might be a delay with TO getting in, despite the superior stats....

2nd in all-time yardage and 3rd in all-time TD receptions. Anyone with that bottom line gets in, period.

It shouldn't even be a question. Lawrence Taylor is in the Hall with a lot more personal demons. T.O. should be first ballot IMO.
I have to admit I am not really sure what the Hall of Fame is about anymore. I once thought of it as a way to memorialize the games greatest players but as the years have rolled on it seems they are forced to come up with more and more reasons why this player should make it or that player. Now as much as anything else it has become a sort of numbers game. Owens put up some impressive numbers during his career, but he was a cancer in every locker room he was ever part of. And, again, while his numbers were notable I don't know that the game fundamentally changed in anyway because of his contributions, which I would think would be another criteria. Because he was such an immature tool for his whole career I'd vote no in a heartbeat.
I'm well-aware of the fact that he wasn't a great team mate lots of the time, but he doesn't just have good numbers. He's got all-time good numbers. Again, second in yardage and third in TD's? That should be a slam dunk even if he was a complete a-hole.
the "he was a poopy face, doo-doo head" argument is lame. grow up. dude is one of the top wide receivers of all time, of course he should be on the first ballot.

And I'm guessing the comparison has more to do with Harrison being the only other WR than it does "cherry picking."

I salute you for taking a player whose antics were detrimental to the team and got him put on his butt for half a year in his prime.

Not because of any good reason, injury or what have you, just because he's a jerk off. I'll take the player who has class and can act like an adult.

Give me a TO with his head not lodged up his butt then we're not having this conversation and without a doubt I take him too.

That TO probably puts up better numbers than he did put up and would walk from the field after his last game right into the HOF.

Not the actual TO, he deserves to be in no earlier than the second ballot.

Beyond that, .... so out of the eight or so slots for HOF induction one of them always has to be a WR?

I'm not even saying Harrison has to go in before TO, and there are still 14 other qualified guys in my original list.

WR can't possibly be bypassed in favor of those of merit who played another position or filled another role (owner, or coach)?

There are more than eight candidates who didn't play WR, who likely didn't put up the numbers TO did, and still merit being inducted into the HOF instead of TO getting in on his first ballot.

Mark Schlereth over T.O. is this a joke? Schlereth went to 2 Pro Bowls and in 5 out of his 12 seasons he played less than 8 games

No joke. 3 rings as an integral part of his team's O-lines, part of an O-Line that got his RB 2K yards, and being a team player speaks for itself.

Any one of these things on its own is not enough to put anyone in the HOF, all of these things together, more of a case can be made.

Schlereth merits induction to the HOF, as does TO, just neither of them on the first-ballot.

I won't be surprised if TO gets inducted to the HOF on his first ballot, because I understand the HOF is not about class.

I just think it sends the wrong message to young players and kids:

That, in a team sport, if you're good enough it's okay to celebrate selfishness and self above the team and you still end up in the HOF on the first ballot.

I was at the HOF in January....

A player doesn't go in representing a team. The bust is just a bust with the name underneath.

When you go on their computer to look up highlights, a player can be found under all the teams he played for. Sometimes if a player was predominantly famous for one team (like Montana, Rice, Lott, Favre) they'll asterisk those other teams. For some other guys they don't.

Glad you agree with me that he missed out on larger on (and off the field) numbers and rings in wasting his talent (and earning capacity).

Oh, TO's 2005 season, his antics which got him kicked out of two cities, and somewhat blacklisted at the tail end his career all say hello .
T.O. should be first ballot, I'll be mad if he is made to wait... (But not surprised*) (WR's snubs have to end; this isn't the old RB league of the past... Guys like T.O. helped usher that in.)

T.O. & Favre for 2016
Yes. Obvious HOFer, IMO
