Moving Eli has nothing to do with looking for a LEO.
So you are saying that 6'3 252 Mack can't play 6'3 257 Eli Harolds position?

Really this came down to the pass rush. Harold can't do it. He's a run defender, little else.
Which is the main responsibility of our SAM backer.

If we get Mack, which isn't happening, it wont be to play him at SAM to set the edge in run support.

doesn't mean the trade has nothing do to with looking for a leo. its the money they are trying to move.

If the team got Mack, they're not wasting him away at the SAM spot. He would definitely become the full-time Leo.
Pipe dream, tho.

resign aaron lynch when the bears cut him? lol, yes. i think they are setting the stage for something. no offense to those who think sacks are not important and we need to set on this for this year and wait for the draft,,... it may be something simple and safe and smart like signing elvis or something major like a trade.

Watson may have the lead over Pita, but Pita looks like the better player. I must say I didn't like the Pita pick last year because I didn't see him as a LEO, which is where he was projected by many, but he's quick and has a great motor. Plus, he looked really good against the run and playing on the edge.
It'll be interesting to see if that roster spot goes to Dumervil or Reid (as a LB). Perhaps we'll se Smith, Warner and Foster out there together.

Pick a Linebacker, any linebacker. I'm sure you can remove Smith and Foster from the list. I'd actually append the list with predicted pre season cuts; which includes Eli himself.

Watson has actually looked considerably better as a pass rusher than Pita, which is surprising.
I don't recall seeing Watson play much SAM, tho. In fact, the guy that's played more SAM than anyone behind Eli is Mark Nzeocha.
