The surgery sets a precedent for the 2018 season.

With this foot injury it would be really unfair to judge him on his performance in 2018. May need to use 2019 as an eval year.

You mean unfair, right? I agree. I personally think 2020 or 2021 would be the best years to evaluate him.

His "ankle" issue was more due to the fact that he couldn't pass block or hold onto the football...he wouldn't have made it to the PS and wasn't better than 3 other RBs on his team. There was no report of Williams having surgery?

The surgery happened a couple months ago. They're just talking about it now because obviously this guy has no credibility with anyone regarding injuries. Let's see if this is the public beginning of excuses, or just a non issue. Not lovin it.

I did and I edited, thanks!
Wouldn't want to let him go too soon like Martin or Tank.

Why do people in here keep saying this. The team did not just "give him" $9 million. He is playing in 2018 under his rookie deal, so they are paying him whatever that amount is for this season. IF he is still on the team at the beginning of the next league year, which starts in March of 2019, or if he is injured as of that date then they will owe him the guaranteed amount for his option year. If he gets through the season without injury and the team decides to cut ties with him then they can do so before March and not be on the hook for a single dime of that $9 Million.
On the subject of opinions. Seems to me that one can't really have an opinion unless they are cognizant of the pertinent facts surrounding the topic under discussion. They can have a reaction. Not an opinion. And no, they aren't the same thing.

Another way to phrase this difference is "informed opinion" vs. "uninformed opinion". Not all opinions are equal, even if everyone can have one.

Would you rather he miss time during the season or now?
In other words you don't have a clue about what he is making this year or anyone better to replace him. You are just mad at a Lynch statement that all GMs make. Lynch has praised several. Players and let them go. Having an opinion is fine. Having one that cones out if the air is still OK, but it shows.

The foot surgery was a couple of months ago. He said he won't miss any OTAs.
He's excited to play albeit no pads, that's when he's at his best.

Can it really be an opinion if it's uninformed, or is it something else? That's one for the philosophers to sort out I think. Interesting question in semantics though. Makes my head hurt just to think of it, sort of like the concept of infinite space
