We should be clear. This is his move not theirs. He packed his own bag.

I heard that if no team picks him up he loses his entire salary because he refused arbitration. The NFL salary rules are so complex. No wonder teams need a cap specialist.

Not wanting a pay cut is understandable
A team will definitely pick him up

How much you think a team is willing to pay him is the better question. I'm thinking it's not what he's thinking

AA is the 3rd highest paid player on the team. His cap hit this year will be $28 mil. No matter what you think of him, he's not the 3rd best player on the team. Not even close. Even if he was healthy and played every game he's not worth $28 mil.

Nobody was taking on that contract
Didn't make sense to trade him either. The team that trades for him only takes on $2.5M if he's moved now. Post June 1st trades can't be done until June 1st (not the same as being cut). So not only would we not get that cap space, we wouldn't get any trade compensation until then 🥴
I'm guessing that cap relief in June is more important than eating $28M and getting some day 3 pick.
Yeah it still sucks. I get availability and cap, but he was a team leader, this will hurt the locker room. Maybe he comes back on a cheaper deal?
Maybe but it sounds like they couldn't come to an agreement on a cheaper deal. .
Agreed, and I don't blame Armstead. You make a deal the idea is both sides adhere to it etc. I also don't blame the team. This is the business side of it. It sucks

49ers asked for a cut
Armstead says he wants to test FA first
Neither side said the door to return is closed
Am I right?

But usually if you are cut, you aren't returning to the original team. Some team is going to pay him.

He was what? Healthy for every game or worth $28 mil per year. He missed 13 games the last 2 seasons. He definitely isn't worth $28 million. He's not the best player and not the best D lineman. Not the best defensive player.

If he was then why are we in this situation? You think just because of injury?

How much do you think a team is going to pay him? Definitely not close to that 28mil
