AA is the 3rd highest paid player on the team. His cap hit this year will be $28 mil. No matter what you think of him, he's not the 3rd best player on the team. Not even close. Even if he was healthy and played every game he's not worth $28 mil.

But usually if you are cut, you aren't returning to the original team. Some team is going to pay him.

The $28M is just his cap hit not really what he's getting paid this yr. The reason it's so high is because they restructured his deal in previous years. Base salary converted to a signing bonus which is prorated over a couple years. The signing bonus is cash he got when the restructure happened.

We've been playing the last few seasons like that with him on IR. Or have you now paid attention?

He was already paid his signing bonus when he restructured. That's a cap figure only. Not real money.
