Those of you that are analyzing him probably need to stop and actually think for a minute what you're saying. He does have his limitations but they are very few and far between. Plus he's the most versatile out of any end because he can play tackle better than all of them as well. This was a great signing

AA is not that bad - but, I'd rather they signed Buckner better.

Buckner cost waaaay more, who you cutting to afford him. People who are crapping on AA only watch splash plays and have no ability to see the game away from the ball.
i honestly think that keeping bosa, bucko and Warner as the defensive core for the longest was the best plan in the long run.. those 3 players are top 100 and together give us a chance for good to great defense every year.
AA is good but not top 100 in my opinion.

So what two players do you cut to pay for Buck instead of AA? Where can we take the drop off from quality starter to bargain basement?

we are gonna have to replace some guys anyway, this year casualties wouldve been ward and AA. next year probably ford kwon and sherman. Dont know for sure but i think finding those replacements are easier when you have a solid core of stars.

I can understand that

But Buckner was still a huge liability on the inside against the Run.

Kinlaw replacing him have now made it a strength

Only the opening game against Arizona did the other team's offense put up some serious numbers and that was only because the 49ers offense was doing absolutely nothing.

Just like the game against the Eagles.

When the offense is fairly moderate you can expect the defense to dominate most of the time

Against the run and the pass.

Can't believe they paid that fool instead of buck. Morons

I can. Lynch isn't the smartest executive. He took some unnecessary risks and they have not paid off. (yet) That D line should have been centered around Bosa and Buckner. The same goes for re-signing Ward and letting Sanders walk. Even though Sanders isn't balling out, having him with Aiyuk and Deebo would be great to see. Also, they let a 3rd and a 4th round picks walk for nothing.

Lmao. Cohn. What a troll of a beat writer
If we did keep Buckner and let AA walk, who'd actually be playing DE right now? Just from an injury standpoint alone, Lynch made the right call.
Hey guys, I wish we would have kept Buckner over Armstead. Now let's all say it together. How many times can we all post this s**t!?

People seem to miss just how big of a salary cap THIS season the two are at.

Armstead is making $6 million this year. Buckner is making over 23 million.

We're basically keeping Armstead, Ward, Garland, Hyder, Verrett, Blair, Bourne and Brunskill under contract this year under what Buckner is getting.

Funny thing is, we didn't choose buck over Armstead. We wanted the 13th overall pick, so we could choose Kinlaw, who they believe will be a superstar eventually.

Grant is only putting the blame on AA to take the focus away from the real reason the Niners lost and that was his boy Mullens.

No the 13th pick was a product of the trade. They had to move Buckner for salary cap reasons and being able to sign multiple free agents on the team. Not to mention a Kittle extension. They were happy to get 1st round compensation and with that they decided to keep the d line strong with Kinlaw. Kinlaw wasn't why they traded Buck it was financial reasons not personnel
