I think Vrabel can make for a very good DC. I'd rather have Fangio back or there are a couple bigger names. But so far he has gotten rave reveiws. He has the leadership abilities, learned under Wade Philips, Crennel, Bellechek and others. As far as new coordinators go to me he is one that shows the most potential. People saying no because he is not a big name are just basing off brand name so to speak. As a player Vrabel was a leader and played better than his talent suggested because he was very football intelligent. I don't like the Patriots but Vrabel has the potential to be very good and not just as well at least hes better than Mangini. Houston players rave about him especially Cushing. I think my first choice would be Pettine, but Vrabel would be one of the top three or four in my mind. At least of who is available and realistic. I would love Dick Lebeau but that ain't going to happen. The Niners have a lot of young players on defense and Vrabel is a younger coach recently in the NFL his expierence and being closer in age could be a boon.

Every coach has to start somewhere. I'm all for giving Vrabel a shot. He has so much upside and everyone raves about him.

Don't know much about running a defense but he did seem to draw up some clever pass rush calls. Our D was the worst its been in a very long time, departures played a lot in that. I think we give Mangini another year to mold with our young D he could surprise us.

The two times he has been a DC the defenses declined sharply. I suppose last year he gave himself some room to improve.

Would be great if somehow he can get Vrabel as some sort of assistant or position coach. If Mangini sucks, we can fire him and just promote Vrabel then. If Manging does well, I'm sure Vrabel won't mind and he just goes and becomes the DC for another team the following season.

Seriously. This isn't amateur hour at The Apollo. The fans deserve better than a Vrable. I can't believe we are filling our ranks with all these east cost guys.
Who cares if he's from the East coast or West coast?

29th in sacks, 26th in INTs, last in league in creating fumbles, 29th overall defense and they gave up over 24 points a game
Not sure what there is to like about him honestly
I'll take Vrabel over him in a heart beat.

Once again--missing J Smith, Willis, McDonald, A Smith, Culliver, Cox...doesn't that somewhat mitigate his failings?
