Seriously though how did this f**ker even get the name Man genius when he sucked as a DC and sucked as a head coach? I know I read he's very knowledgeable about the game, but that obviously hasn't translated to his coaching ability.
Seems like they just call anyone a genius nowadays. Wasn't Greg Roman referred to as the mad scientist? WTF is going on with these ridiculous b******t nicknames

Mangini first caught the attention of Bill Belichick, under whom he would coach for nine seasons, as a 23-year-old ball boy with the Cleveland Browns. His work ethic impressed Belichick, and the head coach was instrumental in promoting Mangini to a public relations intern, and later, an offensive assistant

7 seasons, 44 games played and 27 receptions. Lol. Alot of bad players last for a while. This guy was upset with his own career.
Look up what some of the Jets and Browns players said about Mangini

Career season high of 80 yards receiving. He was basically a poor man's Kassim Osgood.
I don't disagree that Mangini was a complete a*****e, it seems arrogance comes as part and parcel with those coming out of the Patriots organization under Belichick but getting fired in Cleveland and only being able to find work as an assistant in the NFL after being considered hot s**t in your early 30's had to have been humbling for him.
In either case, there's nothing we can do about it at this point, he was highly regarded as having a very bright defensive mind so hopefully he's learned to balance his X's and O's knowledge with some humility and grace.

With six teams looking for defensive coordinators, there wasn't a whole lots of options... Schwartz, Wade Phillips, I think they had to act

Here you forgot the rest of that article. When Belichick was hired as the New England Patriots head coach in 2000, he brought along Mangini[6] as his defensive backs coach. Mangini, who won three Super Bowls with the Patriots, turned down defensive coordinator positions with the Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns before accepting the role with New England in 2005.[7]
