Hyde was hit or miss depending on how much he was banged up. Very inconsistent.

2 games where he gained less than 40 yards on 13/14 carries.
7th game of the year he gained 14 yards on 13 carries against Arz.

75 ypg = 1200
he was under that mark 6 of 13 games last year

94 ypg = 1500
he only had more than that twice last year

Hopefully he can finish his first full season in the league.

Him being under the 75 yard mark in 6 of 13 games doesn't mean all that much. He would have surpassed that amount in a few more games but the team was so behind in the 2nd half he didn't get as many touches. What encourages me is in the last six games he averaged 91 YPG on 5.6 YPC. Mind you this was behind a terrible OL. Health is the biggest issue obviously. IF he does stay healthy for most of the year, 1,200 is certainly possible. In fact, damn near a lock with how much Shanahan gets out of his RBs.

I'm not buying the Carlos Hyde hype. He's already been in the league for 3 seasons and one of those to watch one of the best ever (Gore is a beast) and he hasn't been 100% motivated to have his best year until now? Not even to be the best but to have his best year. Now? In his contract year? The warning signs should be apparent.

Hyde just doesn't seem like a leader of a team or he would have acted like a leader the past couple of years. He has no excuse not to be since he has been one of the older players on this team.

I'm not buying.

He was on pace for like 1200+ yards before the injury last season.

One can say that nobody respected Kap's or Gabbert's passing game and in a Chip Kelly offense, if no team respects the pass-game, the entire offense is shot.

It was just to show how up and down he is.

as for the bold he had one game at almost 200 yards and the last game he played 38 because of injury.
Take out those two games and he avg 65 ypg in 5 of his last 7.

He said he wants to lead the league in rushing. That's neat but kind of a reach for a guy who's never played all 16 games.
wheres the video of him truck sticking witherspoon?

Usually 49ers.com posts highlight plays from team periods in practice. I've seen everything they put up and that play not included. Website objective is to make everything look as good as possible, so probably omitted to not embarrass the hell out of Witherspoon.

Sure, that's if you include the 13 carries for 14 yards game. That game he still seemed a bit hesitant running as he was returning from his injury. But he certainly picked it up after that game. It is going to come down to how competitive we are in games in the 2nd half. Last year we would get blown out in the 2nd half and in result the run game would be abandoned. Our run blocking was also down right putrid but is it really going to improve this season?

No way would Joe Fann and the crew post that. It makes Witherspoon look bad and they don't want that to be exposed to the public.

I don't think as much as he thinks or hopes it will.

He also faced more top run defenses than any RB in the NFL with over 100 carries. He had 5 games against teams with top 3 run defenses.

One thing Hyde learned from Gore is pass protection. I read he laid someone out during pass protection.

Good call Phoenix!

Also, he faced lots of 8 men in the box.

With our new coaches our game plan should open things up for him.

Man he was so good. If he could've gone injury free he'd possibly be a HoF'er. Our forgotten great RB.

I was 10 when he destroyed his ankle against Atlanta in the playoffs. I was watching it alone in a bedroom at my grandmas house, while the rest of my family was helping her with yard work. My mom came in when she heard crying coming from the room. When she asked me what happened all I could get out was "Hearst got hurt and the niners lost" in-between sobs.
