So do I.

Yea, everyone loved him when he was here, gave us great highlights and memories, that's gotta count for something.

What is with your fixation on Garcia? This is about TO, not Garcia. What's your excuse for TO and every other team he burned bridges with? They must all be in cahoots to keep the hard working, southern black man down, right?

That's the problem. People here are never talking about Garcia, except when it's in a positive light.

There were no bridges burnt. The Eagles cut him because of the media headache. Andy Reid wanted him back, the front office didn't. The Cowboys cut him because of his declining performance. ESPN's reports were false. Jerry Jones even identified on the evaluation sheet when Owens was cut that it was for on field performance reasons. The coaches reviewed the film and determined he wasn't the same player. That's why it took them so long to release him after the season ended. They were evaluating him on film.
Meh, i understand the hate for the guy, but all that aside he provided me some great entertaining football moments while he was a 49er, and for that i will always be in his debt.

Some of the hate is deserved, but some is certainly over the top.

However i will say this, it was indeed largely the media overplaying the cancer bit that got him his reputation. He was a baller in Philly, and the only guy that played in that SB performance.

He had his tantrums, but they werent actually that bad, they were just severly blown up by the media, and the circus that followed him was a big reason he was blacklisted, not his play, nor his locker room behavior.

Guy was a machine when it came to work ethic and talent on the football field. He was castrated worse by the media than i think anyone in the history of the game. Wish he could have been a lifelong 49er, but it wasnt meant to be.

Why was he even there? I thought it was odd he showed up. Dude was a great player, but I honestly wish he is stricken from our history. He intentionally burnt all his bridges with the way he stormed out of SF. TO can EAD.

I still like TO, he was a part of some of my happiest moments as a Niner fan.

Fans who kick him when he's down now....screw them.

Niner fans just have to be amongst the worst spoiled brats in the league. When it comes to hating TO...they have the most ridiculous of selective memories as well.

FWIW, I don't think TO wanted to leave until management made it clear they weren't going to bring him back. Then his agent botched filing his FA papers properly, and the Niners in return for years of hard work and great play tried to take advantage and screw him in free agency.

Dude just didn't and never did get it. He could have been soo good for soo long had he just not been mental.

Mods feel free to merge if yah want, just didn't think this really belong in any of the other TO threads.

It is actually York's throwing stance that is funny in this picture. I am guessing he was the proverbial last kid picked in PE class.

Why was T.O. considered a locker room cancer ?

Why did teams let him go

Why is he out of the league a little too early

It's not cause of the TD celebrations

He wasn't considered a locker room cancer by anyone but the media. His teammates say the exact opposite.

The 49ers traded him because they were rebuilding. Did you forget all the other guys who were actually let go that off-season, including Garcia?

He's 40-years-old. How is that "a little too early?" The guy was given a chance to make the Seahawks and didn't make it. He got old. It happens to everyone.

Yes, it is because of the TD celebrations. You must not have been a fan in 2000-2002.

You are obviously too young to know what happened to TO and the 9ers...locker room cancer is what he is and was to every team he was on

I loved the guy until he started acting stupid

Actually, I am old enough to remember exactly what happened. He got the reputation he got from the TD celebrations (the star and the Sharpie). People forget that. Before that, nobody in the media had a bad word to say about him. After those celebrations, they couldn't say enough bad things about him. That's where all the buzzwords you hear now about him originated. "Selfish, arrogant, diva, prima-donna, narcissistic"...all because he celebrated on Texas Stadium's star (if you ask me, f**k the Cowboys) and signed a ball with a freak'n Sharpie, which the guy he burned, Shawn Springs, thought was cool.

Here are what T.O.'s actual teammates have to say about him: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1584791-terrell-owens-a-great-teammate-players-and-coaches-defend-his-character

In the end, we can blame Donahue for firing Mooch, and then a year later, driving both TO and Garcia out the door sooner than he had to, and breaking up the post-Young Niners.

Instead we got 2-14 under Erickson, and then years of the Dark Ages under Nolan.
