I agree with the move. He simply won't be worth what he will get from other teams.

I really dont understand why everyone things Crabs is in for a big pay day? Dude has hardly done jack in 6 years. Mark my words (seriously), at most this cats going to get a prove it deal. I'm calling 3.5 million one year. Watch.

Because teams pay for names. Some teams like a top draft pick who had some success on team with an abysmal passjng game his whole career from a championship caliber team.

3.5 sounds low to me. Golden Tate got 6 million plus and he never had a 1,000 yard season before this year. Delanie walker got like 4 plus. He was our backup tight end...

It's not about what he is worth. It's what are teams willing to pay for him. He is probably worth 3.5 but some dumb team will over value him or get in a bidding war. It happens.

I hear you, but I just dont think Crabtree has a big name outside of SF. What game breaking plays do you remember him for? The SuperBowl TD catch? Nope. How about the 2013 NFCC game against the Hawks? Yeah, not so much. I dont blame him for those plays. But, hes a good reciever without any truly clutch memories. I say he gets a two year deal at the most and I doubt its for more than 3.5. We'll see.

He'll get about 3 or 4 Years worth around 23 Million either from us or from someone else...
I agree with Oaklands line of thinking. He may get more than 3.5 but i don't think he is viewed highly around the league. He does nothing outstanding, hes a good player and can have a career, but he doesn't have one tool you can say ahh haa! That makes him separate to above average. You could say his hands and he does pluck some fastballs sometimes, but he doesn't ever contort his body for catches and his hands were weak this past year in a what have you done for me lately league his hands aren't above average. Even before its not like he was Lary Fitzgerald with his hands, Kap throws some rockets that arent greatly placed and he grabbed some but i never saw anything that excited me about Crab. TBH he cleared a lot of yards in 2012 cause the underneath was his for the taking with safeties staying deep for Moss, VD, and Delanie.

Football guys(GM's, HC's etc) remember defining moments too, they remember Sherman gloating over him and that he couldn't get off coverage for either of his big moments in the clutch, wether his fault or not. He couldn't shake the coverage he was given to make the play.

Over rated, I will be glad to see him go, only because it forces our hand to get somebody in here that can and should be better and a number 1 or future number 1 to replace Boldin. IF we could get him on the cheap cheap i really wouldn't even want him because he will just take playing time from someone else who we could develop and get into the fire.

that is not something to look forward to
He is a solid receiver with bad feet. Just not an elite talent, IMO. If he can overcome his injury problems and stay healthy, he can really help a team as a solid #2 possession receiver as long as there is a clear cut #1 opposite him, preferably with some speed.
Crabtree would excel as a #2 WR. He could take over for Andre Johnson and be #2 behind Hopkins, or even in New England with Gronk and Edelman there.

He is not a true #1 WR.

The 49ers either need to draft speed at the WR position or run creative plays that allow slower WRs to get open, find holes and buy some time. THe vanilla play calling with lack of speed doesnt help.

Since we're nitpicking his twitter, I found it interesting he didn't correct anybody that introduced him as a 49er this whole All-Star Weekend.....Was wearing a Niners watch too apparently.
A solid #2 at best. Have a nice life.
