We almost seen the first decapitated head (Brees) with that Brooks hit haha

Cover backs and ends, no so much.

It appears to me, that covering receivers was considered more important in this new scheme, or finding ways to cover Brooks's one weak spot was not a task the new staff was willing to take on.

I actually thought he was ok at covering
He made some huge pass break ups in his time here.
His deal was he lost a step, and has steadily regressed every year. Father Time just hit him hard
Brooks is a Warrior, he had the knack for coming up with the big play. What a D we had, Cowboy, Patrick, RayMac, Aldon, Bow and Brooks.

This! I understan the move was a must do, he would have helped this team but it was a classy move to cut him early and give him a legit chance to catch on elswere.

This is a long view move. Baalke had a soft spot for older veteran types at certain positions and Brooks was one of those players.

With the team going in a new direction it was time to move on to clear the pipeline to see what you got with the young players that will factor more into the future than a 33 year old LB.

When Shanahan and Lynch came in signing 6 year deals that usually means there will be an increased emphasis on player development and coaching that doesn't afford a young team the luxury of potentially losing good young players to the waiver wire in order to keep a veteran with one year left on his deal.

Bingo.

Glad he's gone. I must have lost my mind 100 times watching him jump offsides.

Yeah, that was an awesome crew - it had to be one of the all time best defensive fronts in 9ers history. Brooks was excellent at setting the edge. He was very good at shedding blockers. And I'll bet he blew up a lot more screens than were successful on his side of the field. Thanks for putting it out there Ahmed.
