If i were JH i would hit the road as it sounds like they do not want him. i still love this team but the things they do just make you wonder if they just go looking for trouble

he didn't cover up anything? florio's report stated the 2 sides were close to a deal, york said not true

i much prefer the way our org is going about this by not gossiping to the media about conversations w/ other teams

cleveland is a joke, haslam fueled a non-story and undermined the coach he JUST HIRED
friday his infamous tweet said,, report is not true.. now he says they did reach out.. so why the hell did he not just come forward in some other venue than a f**king tweet and say it. had he said they reached out and we had no interest on friday then we would not have had this drama.... like i said this front office acts like it just goes looking for trouble and seem to in inept at handling a "situation"

He never said they didn't reach out. He said report isn't true.

How often do the 49ers comment on trades or contracts? Never.

What Jed tweeted was true. If you are expecting a team to be transparent and respond in detail to every report, then you are going to find yourself frustrated. Alot. Thats just not who they are who they will likely ever be. It can be maddening as a fan, but that's just the way it is.

The bottom line tho is that all of the drama over what should or should not have been said and when is all EXTERNAL to the team. They already know what happened and are busy getting ready for the draft. I'd be more worried if they spent a significant amout of time on worrying what the public image of this was this situation.

He had to assume the browns owner was going to go with it. If he did this story is dead but instead he confirms the story and this fiasco grows legs.

it was started by the browns but the niners and the front office did themselves no favors in the way they have handled this in my opinion. Now we are facing alot of questions like does JH want to be here? is there a move to get rid of him? is there tension among the coach and front office. lovely distractions and as you said it is a fiasco which is the last thing you need

Who's distracted?

Niners are in Indy. For the most part, they aren't saying much of anything. This only appears to be drama to fans and media.

Exactly. Tabloid culture.
I love JH

Bingo. The report WASN'T true. It said "The Browns almost traded for Harbaugh! They almost landed him!" Which is completely false and ridiculous, just as our officials have stated. They were never close to landing JH.

i agree with you,, the media is now focused on this and no matter what spin the niners put on it it will continue to be a story. we can b***h and moan about it but the media has the final say until the niners do the only thing that will stop this story dead in its tracks... and that is to announce a long term or extension for the coach. until then the media will keep it alive which, to them, is their job. the media people who already hate Jh will pile onto it and no one will focus on who we draft or what we do in free agency. i still say the niners are not clean on this as they sent some mixed messages in my opinion. you combine that with the rumors about JH when the texas job came about and you have a fiasco

I haven't completely kept up with this thread, but it seems to me the only winner out of all this is Jim. Regardless of what really happened, the majority of the fan base is shocked that the coach was considered a trade-able asset by the front office. Whether or not that's true, that's what was reported. Now Jim gets a nice extension. I don't care how much he gets paid because it doesn't affect the player cap.

But the bottom line is that it is only the media and fans who are getting all worked up over this.

I don't see this having an effect on the product on the field because they already know what happened. They knew before the story broke. All this does is ensure they will be even less inclined to talk to the media in the future. Nothing good comes of it.

This whole thing has done nothing but justify Harbaughs stance on talking to the media.

That doesn't mean tho that there is zero truth to the story in regards to friction between Baalke and Harbaugh. That could very well be true. The 49ers commenting on it can do nothing to improve the situation though.

whether its right or wrong,,, the longer we go without JH having some sort of an extension only feeds the media frenzy. this is why you never get into a pissing match with the media because they always have the last word
What isn't true is there was almost a transaction to make Harbaugh the new Browns head coach. What is true is their attempt to communicate with 49ers about this possibility. That's all that happened, end of story.

Yes, but the 49ers didn't start this one.

Who cares if there is a frenzy? If the men in the building know the score, it really doesn't matter what the media is doing.

WHo do you think Jed will Keep? I like Baalke and I think he is one of the best GM's in the NFL. JH is a great coach and has done a lot for this team in the last 3 years. Jed should have a meeting with both in the room and work this out.
