If the question was who is the NFL's best offensive coach I would agree with you its Belichick. But the Pats defense has never been the same since Romeo Crennel left. Which is a big reason they haven't returned to the SB since 2004.
Tomlin has the Steelers much more balanced between offense and defense than Belichick does with the Pats right now.
Um, Bill Belichick was a David Tyree catch away from being the only coach to go 19-0. And he didn't have a stellar d that year. Btw that was in 07-08, not 2004.
And that doesn't change the fact that Belichick carries that team to success. Tomlin could be replaced, and as long as their front office structure and dick lebeau remained, they'd be just fine. Take away Belichick from NE and they're going down the toilet quickly.
sorry, that game slipped my mind. But still doesn't change the fact that his defense isn't anything special and definitely not good enough to win another SB.
Belichick>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Tomlin
Belichick built the Patriots and turned them into what they are today. Tomlin took over what Cower built. The Steelers organization is structured so that you can pretty much plug in any HC and they will have success.

Actually, for an organization like Pittsburgh it is. What makes Tomlin great? What did he do that another solid coach couldn't have in this situation? The steelers ARE dick lebeau's defense. Without it they'd be nothing special. That's nothing Tomlin did. Tomlin is alot more "along for the ride" than people realize.
Ask every single NFL owner "you're rebuilding your franchise, you get to pick any current coach to do it. 32 of 32 say Belichick. Even Pittsburgh. He's a coaching genius that built a dynasty from a mediocre franchise. Outside Tom Brady (a 6th round backup college qb), Belichick won titles with a bunch of role players.

bellicheck ain't won nothing since his videotapes were seized. plus he needs to establish some type of running game and get his defense to man up come playoff time. I knew pats were not gonna do it this yr because bal jets and pitt were too strong running and stopping the run and when u have a one dimensional offense like the pats deep in the playoffs it makes things easy for elite defenses. bellicheck is good but he ain't walsh. tomlin on the other hand ain't nearly the best but he and bellicheck are in the discussion because it is about winning and last i checked cowher won only one chip during his tenure and he is considered a damn fine coach while tomlin has a chance to win his second chip in three years. pretty darn good without the league's darling at qb in a qb driven league

I don't care how many championships a guy has but when you have your players mentally prepared and execute the game plan on Sundays, then you are a very good coach. How they perform physically, such as Big Ben when a play breaks down, has little to do with coaching.
Pats coach found a QB who never started a NCAA game and turned him into a franchise QB.

I don't know why Tomlin isn't getting more love in here, or is being doubted so much. Getting to two super bowls is pretty special, even if he is "surrounded by a great organization." He has won games with Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon at QB, and has two rookie WR's and one other very young receiver making big contributions, not to mention a rookie center who started every game and keeping that entire offense clicking after the departures of Parker and Holmes. Yes, he's got a great staff and great front office, but so does BB and McCarthy.
The Steelers do a great job of evaluating players and have great drafts and FA moves, but someone still has to coach the players. I think Tomlin's a great coach and deserves a ton of credit for how well that Steelers team has played during his tenure.

If you're going take credit away Tomlin. I can easily bring up spygate to take away credit from Belicheck. Taping a walk through is one thing, but taping signals is just low.

Yeah, Belichick made a dynasty because he taped some teams sidelines...
Belichick is the reason his team is a title contender. Tomlin is not. It's that simple.
