Folks are awful blithe about other people's money.

I don't know if that's aimed toward me, but I don't think I am indifferent about other people's money.

I understand that this is a business at the end of the day, but to bicker and whine just to make a statement would be ridiculous. Where were the players duped? I've heard nothing about what the owners had "snuck in" and "screwed" the players with.

Also, the players' money will increase dramatically once the new TV deal kicks in in a year or two... so... I don't know. I'm just being a fan, but damn I sure want this deal to just get done.

We all do. But being that this is a 10 year deal agreement for a multi-billion dollar industry, I don't think either side is being "greedy" by simply negotiating it for their interests. The players and owners are in fact the ones that earn that money. It's not like they're asking for something that doesn't rightfully belong to them.

[b]The fan outrage makes no sense to me. What exactly have the fans lost in all of this?

Yeah I don't quite understand either, this really has not had any impact on any of our lives. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that we can't be 100% sure there is a football season, the not knowing is killing us. Once this is all over and come Sept. 11 when we are watching the kickoff then no one will care or hold any resentment anymore, and by October this whole thing will be forgotten. Some fans think they have an entitlement to be upset, even though it has nothing to do with them.

What have we lost? All of the offseason programs. We will see what fans lost when the games start and the 49ers are un-prepared because they have had no time to practice.

That is what we have lost.

Let's ask season ticket holders if we lost anything when they watch sloppy, injury crazy football next year.

A few missed, non-contact OTAs in May and June aren't going to turn the NFL into "sloppy, injury crazy football next year". That's just silly.

Nice reach there, by that logic no team will be ready so it will still be an even playing field. And training camps will still start on time so what was missed a few padless OTA's? Alex Smith playing catch and "looking sharp?"

And regardless, fans will still watch...it's football and this is Mother Fu**in' America!

In other words, you think the answer will be f**k Yeah, when the question "Are you ready for some football?" is asked.

Free agency, trades, and the Hall of Fame game.

Are we not gonna have free agency or trades?

The only thing that's been lost is the HOF game. Big whoop.

meh to the hall of fame game, but the offseason is almost over and instead of having a constant flow of exciting player news we have had to listen to speculation about this CBA crap. Crappy offseason to say the least.

Sure, but we're also gonna get the craziest week of player movement that the league's ever seen once it's resolved.

Heck, in a normal offseason you only get a couple of weeks of "exciting" player movement, and the rest of it is extremely uneventful.

I'll tell you what hasn't been lost. A sense of entitlement.

Fans will still watch because we love it so much and maybe no games get missed but for me football is now 365 days a year. I would have loved to have seen Harbaugh's first summer as our coach. Seeing how fast Kaep learns. OTA fights between players. Not to mention Rex Ryan running his mouth...

According to ESPN earlier today, a deal needs to be agreed to by Wednesday or we could lose Week 1 of the preseason games. One of the new rules in the CBA proposal states that the players get 15 days from when they report to training camp until the first game. Also, if we miss preseason week 1, the CBA figures would have to be re-calculated. It's estimated that between $100-200 million would be lost for each preseason week missed.

Players don't give a s**t, they'll burn the entire preseason to make a point. -Vincent Jackson wants his 10 million or no football, period.

greedy ass owners don't want to lose $200 million for games that dont count.

That's $200 million in shared revenue . . . so both sides will lose their cut . . . a deal will get done.

I agree. There is too much at stake not to reach a deal. I'm still optimistic that cooler heads will prevail, and it will get done soon.

Ya, the teams that have had the same system in place for 5 years will be on an even playing field. That makes perfect sense.

We have had s**t coaches in the past.

Trust me not having OTAs have hurt the 49ers. Now, if the players don't sign this s**t quick we risk losing training camp time as well. Which will further put the 49ers behind the 8 ball.

Jason LaCanfora: Clearing up some stuff from earlier - It was a false report about the nature of an alleged email from the NFLPA to player reps that quickly spread to the point where reps and players believed it to be true, including several I spoke to. Turned out to be erroneous and the NFLPA in fact sent out nothing. PA got word to players it was not true and there is no conference call or meeting set for Monday. George Atallah of the NFLPA told me "there is no timetable" for any conference or vote and the lawyers will continue to work out the remaining issues.

Well, as long as there are lawyers involved, I'm sure they'll make it easy to understand for the college "graduates" they represent.

So .. basically they are saying the NFLPA has no plans right now to vote. They still feel they are in negotiating phase?
