no newton or mallet looks like

“(You try to understand) do they love football?” Harbaugh said. “Do they like to work at the game? How much do they understand the game? Will they be a fit for our team? Those are all critical evaluations.”

Cam Newton was one of the hardest working players at Auburn and wants to be great. This doesn't rule out Cam Newton in anyway.

Sure it does, don't kid yourself. Anyone cheating multiple times shows a huge red flag that they are unwilling to actually work for their achievement. Surely, you don't need someone to explain that to you, huh?

Did you take into account he was a 19 year old kid when that happened ? Surely you must realize he could have changed since then ? Surely he had to work to win a NC or did he cheat to win that ?

If the 49ers researched his background and found he was not the same kid he was when he cheated and stole the laptop, that he had grown and matured would that count for him or against him as a character concern ?

You do know he robbed an older Woman at a KFC 2 years ago right?

Link?
There ya go :)

That's a damning video.

Didnt you see the Auburn hat he had on to :)

Yeahhh...that's what disappointed me. Should have at least changed his hat. Cam Newt - I'm disappoint son.

That was Peterson he dragged 4 yards to the Endzone. The same Peterson many believe is the best defender in this class. Peterson had the angle, and Cam Newton switched into a gear which isn't expected of a 250lb man.

SEC doesn't have crappy college defenders.

Aren't 3 of the consensus top 10 picks in this class SEC defenders ?

Yeup...SEC is the best conference - and when it comes to defense - they put plenty of starters at the next level. There is a reason why a QB hasn't had 2000 yards passing + 1000 yard rushing playing in SEC - EVER...till Cam Newton did it.

... and you are still not listening. I suspect it is because you have fallen into such a Cam-lovin-state that you just hear what you want to hear... so I'll be more clear...

NEVER said that anyone should completely write Cam off.... ONLY said that there ARE risks involved and those risks make me say NO to taking him in the top 10.

From the link provided earlier:

When researching players from four conferences for this draft – ACC, SEC, MAC and WAC - I looked into the backgrounds of every draft eligible player who we believed could make a training camp. I found a myriad of hidden transgressions and law breaking far worse than anything Newton was accused of.

If we go by that standard, half of the teams in top 10 will end up with mediocre players.

You did write off that he hasn't changed. You said yourself that he is unwilling to work for his achievements and did not have to work to win a National Championship.

I suggested that it COULD be a warning sign... c'mon, you guys are FAR too defensive about Cam. Just chill a bit and understand the difference between condemnation and concern.

He [Cam Newton] didn't "have to work" for his NC. He just had to play a large part in his gimmick offense. 1 read and go... Fake run, then throw into huge passing lanes. Run around on pizz-poor tackling college defenders. Wow.. amazing. Easy NFL transition? Are ya kidding me????

Dude... that's not even talking about the same thing. Forget it... Cam lovers are friggin hopeless souls. G'day...

That was one ridiculous statement. You were dismissing his NC run - by saying he didn't have to work for it. You were implying that his championship run doesn't show that he worked for his achievements because he was running a gimmick offense.

Cam Newton going 10'6' in standing broad jump is elite. That's explosive.

By comparison, Vince Young did a 9'8" broad jump at his Pro Day.

Tim Tebow did 9'7" in the broad jump last year, so Newton was almost a foot longer at 10' 6"
