Head Coach options for the 49ers in 2011: Who do you like and why?

I think I'd rank Fisher ahead of Gruden, then Billick after that.

Fisher has been a winning coach year after year for over a decade. Gruden is good, but he's not as consistent. And I think Fisher's teams have been better than Gruden's in terms of player management. Although I'm not sure how much input either of them had in that.

I'd like Fisher if we can get an good offensive coach like Gary Kubiak at OC/Assistant HC

I don't want a defensive coach period. FIsher's not that great of a coach, he's ok but not what we need in SF. Gruden's a good offense coach, rehabilitated the raiders for a while, then won the SB with TB, and he knows about QBs. We need Gruden, plus he's a WCO genius. I remember someone on here posted that when McKittrick was the OL coach he said Gruden was a genius. It has to be Gruden, Harbaugh, or Holmgren. Nobody else will do. Then bring in a guy like Kubiak for OC. I'm done with defensive coaches.

I respect Billick, but I'd only take him if either Gruden, Harbaugh, and/or Morneweg turned us down (and I doubt it'd come down to that).

So I take it that even if Gruden was to opt out he'd be facing a possible anti-trust lawsuit?

As much as I want Holmgren, Harbaugh and Murlarkey, I have this strong feeling we'll end up with Jon Gruden. With all the speculation and mix signals out there and the way Gruden spoke about San Francisco during MNF, I just have this strong feeling hes our man. And I also have this feeling that Harbaugh isn't going to be a serious candidate, only because he hasn't coached in the Pro's before. My reason for Gruden not being my first choice, I just don't think he'll come in and go with a rookie QB like I'd want us to. If Gruden is indeed our man, I think we can bank on Matt Hasselbeck or one of the top free agent veteran QB's out there becoming our starter.

Might not have been a head coach but he was an assistant coach with the Oakland Raiders in 2002–2003. In 2002 he was an offensive assistant coach, and in 2003 he was the quarterbacks coach.

As much as I respect Brian Billick, the fact that he NEVER put together a productive offense in Baltimore is really troubling. His offenses ranked 24th, 16th, 14th, 26th, 21st, 31st, 24th, 27th, and 22nd in yards and 14th, 14th, 18th, 23rd, 8th, 20th, 25th, 12th, and 24th in points from 1999 until 2008. Now granted that team was designed for the defense to be dominant, but by contrast, take a look at Tony Dungy, who was in a similar situation in Indianapolis.

He was known for building good to great defenses, but although it took him awhile, by the time he retired, he had a pretty good defense in place in Indy. The Colts were ranked 8th, 11th, 29th, 11th, 21st, 3rd, 11th in yards and 7th, 20th, 19th, 2nd, 23rd, 1st, and 7th in points. The Colts didn't put much focus on defense in the time that he was there, but as I said before, he built a solid defense and both coaches were with their respective teams for about the same number of years.

I like Harbaugh andFisher (if available, he's the only defensive coach I'm in favor of). Mike Mularkey is an interesting option. I honestly don't know why he left Buffalo. Were any details ever released as to why he left? With Marty Morhinwing (sp?), it's true, EVERYONE did bad in Detroit, especially during the Matt Millen years, so considering what he did with us before and in Philly, I'm in favor of at least granting him an interview.

I'd like to know who the 3% are that voted for Singletary.

That's like around 38 real people who actually voted for Coach Arseclown. (I am assuming that no one voted twice).
