As Jay Glazer reported. Shawne Merriman scheduled for exit physical w/Chargers. If he passes he goes and would clear/be claimed 4pm Wed
What if we claimed both Merriman and Moss

Question Would the Broncos have a higher waiver claim spot now b/c the niners just beat them? They are both 2-6 but I'm not sure what are the tiebreakers concerning the waiver wire slotting. Would seem like a smart move for them to claim Merrimen being that they need major help on the outside and would be getting a player from a division rival.

desperate times call for desperate measures. it would certainly make the next 8 games a little more interesting.

I could see any team in front of us taking Merriman.
1. Bills
2. Panthers
3. Cowboys
4. 49ers

Bills hate 'problem' players, and the Panthers run a 4-3, so Dallas could definitely snatch him up before us (but somehow I don't even see that happening as much as Merriman would prefer, cause Dallas is pretty stacked at the OLB position right now).

With the addition of Gibson do the niners even want to consider putting a claim for Meririman now?

I'm hearing the Seahawks will not make a waiver claim on Randy Moss, and the Ravens would not claim Shawne Merriman, when he hits waivers

Chargers waived OLB Shawne Merriman.
Merriman passed his physical, so he appears to be over early-season calf and Achilles injuries. The Dolphins, 49ers, and Ravens have been connected with Merriman over the past few weeks, but they may wait to try to sign Merriman to a reduced deal after he clears waivers.

He probably knows this himself, so he'll most likely negotiate a 1-year package to prove himself to whomever claims him, or another team for 2011 when he hits the market again.

Chargers announce they've waived Merriman. Singletary very complimentary of Lawson today. That + Gibson signing makes Merriman unlikely.

He will be a Cowgirl.

And aside from the Merriman talk, I read in my Lindy's mag that some projected Thad Gibson a 1st round pick. I haven't seen him play before except from highlights, but I heard he has tons of potential, hes just very raw.
