Chargers announce they've waived Merriman. Singletary very complimentary of Lawson today. That + Gibson signing makes Merriman unlikely.

He will be a Cowgirl.

And aside from the Merriman talk, I read in my Lindy's mag that some projected Thad Gibson a 1st round pick. I haven't seen him play before except from highlights, but I heard he has tons of potential, hes just very raw.

also, gibson has been learning from Woodley and Harrison. Nice pickup.

Yes, Alex Boone played against him in high school; teammate in college. Called him a James Harrison clone@matthews2285 Gibson a pass rusher?

Anyone know why Pitt let him go?? I bet they tried to sneak him on their PS, but still, if hes got potential why chance it??

they needed DL depth with so they called up some DL from the P Squad, they intended on Signing Gibson to P sqaud but we came in and swooped him up. They have a ton of depth at that position and Gibson just happend to be on the bottom of it.

True, look what we got in Bruce Davis. He'd be in the mix if we didn't favor Haralson.
He was officially released today.

So is he free to sign with any team, or does he have to go through the waiver process?

he has to pass through waivers first.

Isn't it 3 mil to claim him??? Well not to claim him, but we'd be taking over his salary if we did.

I think it would be worth it. If he pans out we resign him. If not we let him go. He would be a major upgrade over Harolson.

Agreed. Parys has been a one season wonder. He's a slightly better passrusher than Manny yet terrible at setting the edge and has allmost no coverage skills.
Yet I doubt that with the signing of Gibson Merriman will be picked up, and if by some wonder we do pick him up he won't play because the Niners DO NOT play the players that could do some differnce ( See westbrook, Brian)

Shoot I was willing to see what Bruce Davis had over Haralson. Haralson needs to take a seat and go back to being a specialist. I don't know why Brooks isn't starting over him.

I have been waiting for him to get benched since last season.
Haralson is good player to keep around for depth, but he doesn't add much as a starter. He holds up well against blockers and he can set the edge pretty effectively. That's great, but so can a lot of guys. I'd actually like to see a lot more of LaBoy and Brooks. They both have shown that they can get after the QB..

Every week I watch Brooks produce in his limited role and I see Haralson underachieve. I don't understand how he's still a starter. It makes no sense at all.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind bringing Merriman in and allowing (forcing) him to healthy. He's been playing injured for the past couple years now. He needs to be held out until he's 100%. I understand his desire to get on the field and prove A.J. Smith wrong, but he's barely resembled his former self. His career will be very short-lived at this pace. Although, with a new regime likely coming in a few months, management may not care to give Manusky his guy, especially with the chance that we might not even be running a 3-4 beyond this season.
