You're making the pick at #27, who do you take?

I am hopeful EMW is available at 27. People don't like drafting safeties high but I think it's a glaring need.

i have strong hope he will be there are 3 S who can be drafted in first and like you said teams may not see it as a big enough need. i think both Downs and Thiensman are gone in both top 25 i can see EMW going to bears as well but i have hope he falls to us

Yea, drafting a S seems like not a "sexy" pick but I truly think getting the right one can completely transform this D.

They did a good job of fortifying the front 7 a bit with Osa and Greenlaw. Still need an. EDGE rusher for sure but I think getting a true ballhawk FS would be massive...
Too many needs and not enough high and multiple picks to fill them. Teams that have great drafts on paper have at least 2 in the first and 2 in the 2nd round. Combination of sorts works but the Lions core was built on this. SF has too many holes and has to rely on "hold the fort guys" as many teams do. Last year with Saleh they took guys like Mykel, Collins and Nick Martin. Would the new DC have wanted those guys? Are they gonna let the new DC get his kinda guys and then if the leaves after a year what do we have?

EMW is a SS though and we have SSs already. Obv he would be a big upgrade to Mustapha but need a guy who can play center field at FS. Those would be AJ Haulcy, Keointe Scott, Treydan Stukes at #58 and Bud Clark if we traded back and got a mid to late 3rd rounder. If we can't get anyone those guys then after the draft we ship a 2027 4th to ATL for Jessie Bates III to immediately be the starting FS and he's a good player a vet who provide stability on the back end and see how Mustapha develops at his natural SS position.

Def wont complain though if EMW is our pick

I think we are 7grooming KJ Wright to be our next D coordinator (similar to the Dameco track) and I think Morris is here at least two years before he even sniffs a HC job. By then Wright should be ready for the jump to DC. Plus Raheem has never coached even a top 15 defense so there is much uncertainty about him as well as a DC. I think his best assett is in talent identification and may be a better GM type in the future than a DC. We will see.

I'm not sure WR is really even a need anymore now that we brought in Evans & Kirk. OL, Edge & Safety are the big needs IMO.

I just want to avoid a big reach in the first round. No projects, get a guy who's plug and play. Someone who can make an immediate impact as a starter. This team drafts for needs & takes projects early far too often. I just want to see us let the draft come to us, take BPA & let it work itself out from there.

Evans is practically a 1 year deal and Kirk is 1 year so technically wr is still a need
Horrible thing to say (sorry, sorry, don't destroy me) but the more I look at it - and who will most likely be available - the more i want them to trade down

I think the overwhelming majority of people want a trade down.

However, I don't think it's likely to happen.

Largely because most teams are likely to be wanting to trade down and unless someone remarkable slips to within our grasp-ish, no one is likely to want to trade up. I think that the bonus for downwards trading will be very slight this year.

there was a report i saw a few days ago on BR that teams are wanting to trade down but dont have a trade up partner
If they want to trade down they might have to do it at a discount. Ty Simpson would have to be there at #27 for this trade to happen.

Fair Value trade:
  • Arizona gets #27
  • 49ers get #34, #104, #143

Discounted trade

  • Arizona gets #27
  • 49ers get #34, #104

Would you do this?

YES don't care who is on the board at #27. You just say yes no matter what and don't even look at who is there lest you desire to stay pat lol.

The discounted trade gets negotiated up to including AZ's 34 + 104 + 183

Definitely I would do that trade. We need to reacquire a third round pick. There is a BIG gap between our second and third pick, and there are a lot of good players in there to be had.
