I don't believe that NFL teams or scouts are making racial judgements on players. They want to win. Their jobs are on the line. At one point they did block black QB's decades ago but that ended and there is a long history of black QBs drafted highly. Watson was underestimated foolishly on concerns that just didn't show up on film. Jackson had very legitimate concerns about his accuracy. He still isn't a very accurate passer he's just a freak athlete in a great situation. I still very much doubt he can win a SB without a dominant supporting cast.

Some in the media do use stereotypes and show subconscious bias. Which is what this thread is about. That is fairly obvious when you see ignorant things like Fields having poor work ethic or trouble with progressions being put out there.

Yeah this true too. Also the whole controversy over his personal political leanings. That was overblown. He's a conservative, so what as long as he's a good teammate and sacks the QB it's all good.

Wait is it now contraversial to be a conservative? Like are you giving the man a pass for his political beliefs lol? What's next, "the guy believes in Jesus but that's ok as long as he sacks the qb"

Bruh did you not read my post? I said I didn't care about his personal politics at all even though they're different than mine.

I did read it... You said "Also the whole controversy over his personal political leanings". Where's the controversy is my question??

Some people got riled up because he was a Trump supporter. It was during that draft season.

This is from the now-closed Bosa thread

Bosa ain't no franchise player buddy. His body is maxed out. He won't get faster, if he gets bigger will even be slower than he is, his arms won't grow longer. Only thing he can do is get stronger and improve technique. I call Bosa trash because he is not worthy of a top 10 pick, 1st rd pick(mid to bottom) sure but all those dudes you called, he won't be better than neither. He's trash lol

Bosa is an average athlete at best, nothing special about him. 3-cone, split, 20 yard shuttle all are important yes but just drills also, no Oline is there to stop you. Bosa will be going against HUMANS, not cones.3-cone, split, 20 yard shuttle SHOWCASES technique, not athleticism or explosiveness. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!!!

I don't believe Nick will be as good as Joey as a big end and for me he is definitely not a Leo in the scheme, he is too slow.

I don't see how that's contraversial unless you're just saying whenever a prospect shows a political lean it can be an issue for some of the fan base. Like if Jones is a Biden supporter is that also contraversial? Pretty stupid, just about as dumb as using skin, hair, or eye color when evaluating a prospect.

Dude I'm not the one that made a big deal about it. It was a big Twitter thing and the media kinda poured some fuel on it. Not sure why you're insistent that I'm creating this controversy when I clearly said I disagreed that it was an issue even worth giving a crap about.

Lol I'm not accusing you of creating a controversy. Just pointing out that's every bit as ridiculous as using race to evaluate a guys chances in the nfl. I think we might agree on that actually. Where we apparently disagree is if anyone is using race to evaluate players. I think you're beef is more with the media maybe? I can see that, the media is full of garbage. The media is a freak show and pushes racial divide like it's going out of style. If you also think nfl decision makers are racist though that's where we disagree big-time. Shannahan is not looking at anyone and saying oh his skin color is black, he can't read a defense.

Yes we are in agreement and yes my issue is with how the media talks about these guys. I don't think the actual decision makers whose jobs are on the line if they make the wrong decision are letting bias influence their decisions.

Ok, just to push the topic then... Chris Simms is the guy that started the whole Mac Jones to sf saying he's the third best qb and an elite decision maker. That's not a racist take, that's his take after watching film. I watched a bunch of jto's breakdowns on Fields and he did make some bad reads, miss some others, and struggle to get thru others. It doesn't appear to be a strength at this point. It actually looks like his biggest weakness. Almost everything else is a strength though, he'd be the unquestioned number one if he didn't have a weakness.

every QB has weaknesses. That includes Zach Wilson and Trevor Lawrence.

No racism in that take. I agree all of these guys have strengths and weakness. Still trying to find out where racism is coming into these evaluations

Racism doesn't exist in America. It ended when Obama was elected.

But he couldn't be a 15 sack guy because he's white and unathletic.

The media definitely magnifies it. I'm sure coaches just want to win.
