Went into the Bama LSU game liking Brumfield at guard. Left the game being amazed by Quinnen Williams. This might get me crucified here but....what if we pick 3rd or 4th (raiders, giants, arizona), Bosa is gone, and there are no trade back opportunities. Do we reach on a ER just to fill a need? I say we take best player available. I know I know, IDL in the first...AGAIN. But Armstead is walking, and Solly might net something in a trade. We can move Buck to big end, which will have him lined up like a 3-4 DE, and not at all a position he is inexperienced at. He can actually play the Bennet roll, and move inside in nickel, but Williams will be our three down 3T. Do we pass on potential Aaron Donald level production and game wrecking ability, just to reach on an ER? We can use our 2nd to get whoever is left out of Josh Allen, Montez Sweat, Brian Burns, Clellin Ferrell, and Jachai Polite, even if we need to trade up slightly. And then theres still later picks like Chase Winovich, and FA options. I have a feeling I know which posters will agree with me, and which will hate this idea, but what say you?!

Inside pressure is much harder to gameplan for than stifling a great outside rush (Why isn't Denver dominating on D with Miller and Chubb?). This is the only reason I would be ok with taking Q over Bosa. OC's would have nightmares about trying to stop Q and Defo without exposing huge rush lanes for others to come flying through or 1v1's on the outside with zero help. Someone like Graham or Fowler would most likely put up their career best sack numbers playing next to those 2.

Thing is we already have a top 5 DT and a bunch of dogs**t on the outside.

Many believe Bosa is the #1 player and I get it, even if I don't agree with it. Bosa is an incredible player when healthy, but Q to me has a much bigger impact on games and he's a cleaner prospect because he doesn't have an injury history. You don't pass on the best player in the draft if you don't have someone already playing elite football at his position. We don't have anyone playing elite football at the 1.

You can't go wrong with either, but I just believe that the impact that Q could have next to Bucker is bigger than the impact Bosa could have playing EDGE for us. Both make us better, no doubt about that, but Q has a chance to make our D truly special if he lives up to his potential.

My motive starts at not drafting 4 dt's in 5 years as that's laughable bad draft history and it ends with wanting an edge.

All you have to do is watch that last roughing the passer hit by Barron on Mullens. Suh and Donald both get double teamed and Barron gets an open lane untouched to the QB.

This is what I envision with Buckner and Williams inside. Others will eat when teams pay too much attention to those two, but if you don't then they will kill you themselves. Pick your poison.

He's the best DT to coming out of bama since Gerald McCoy imo....I'd put them at the same level.

Payne has been a DROY candidate and was quoted in an ESPN article saying that Q was the their best pass rusher during Q's RS season. That's how good people believe he is and they see him everyday. Both Payne and Allen are first round picks and everyone was basically in agreement that this 19yo kid was a better pass rusher than 2 guys who were both going to be high first round picks.

This kid has special traits as a pass rusher that most HOF DT's have also shown throughout their careers. The next biggest thing is that he is also stout against the run, so that just makes him even more special.

McCoy played for OU. I also think he's a better prospect than McCoy and that's no knock on McCoy.

If we go defensive tackle again I'm going to be furious. It was redundant when we took Solomon Thomas. It would be Matt Millens lions level stupid if we took another DT. Especially since we have buck.
