Devin Bush, LB MICHIGAN

Browse 49ers books and videos
"In 2017, Bush finished the season with 103 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and an interception. In nine game this year, he has recorded 56 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Bush doesn't have ideal height, but he plays strong, is a ferocious hitter at times and a great tackler.

Bush plays the inside and outside run equally well. He can take on and shed blocks quickly and get to the play. He has the speed (4.68 est.) and range to make plays from sideline to sideline. He also has a way of slipping blocks and getting to the ball.

What I like about his game, and what helps project him so well to the next level, is his ability in coverage. Bush has the speed and athleticism to cover backs man to man and not lose them. In zone he gets depth with his drops and has very good receiver awareness. He does a very good job keeping plays in front of him and can plant and drive on the ball very well. His sack totals attest to his very good blitz ability.

In today's NFL, size for linebackers isn't as important as it was just a few years ago. Clubs are going with smaller guys with speed and coverage skills because that keeps them on the field every down. Being under 6-feet will hurt Bush's value a little but not much. If he runs and tests well, he can easily be a Day Two selection if he decides to enter the draft."

Anyone think he may slide to the 2nd due to his smaller size?

Bush is waaaaaaaay more athletic than either of those guys. He is the new-age LB that can hit, run and cover.

I think he will fall to day 2. Some dinosaur teams are going to dock him points for being 5'11" 225lbs. Good for us because they don't care about that s**t in this system.

Hard to say before combine.
I immediately thought of him too. P Willie wasn't tall either but I think he was a little heavier. These guys can usually add weight. If we got Clowney in free agency would it be worth grabbing Bush and then picking another edge guy at #35? Not sure if Bush is a #1 overall but maybe we trade back to 4 or 5 and pick up an extra 2 and 4. Then we could end up with Clowney, Bush and one of the other top edge guys plus another high second rounder and a 4th or even a 5th. If we had two 2nd rounders we could probably trade back into the first to get Ferrell or Polite. Just looking at possibilities. It would really hinge on signing Clowney. If we hadn't lost Foster I wouldn't really consider this but we now need another top LB. I know it might be hard to pass on Bosa but things have changed now. Clowney next to Buckner could be a real force and if we got another good edge guy we might be better in the long run.

Took you long enough. He announced he's going to the draft like 2 hours ago. Step your game up

Just in case we don't land Allen or Devin White, " The Bush - Wacker " would be a solid 2nd pick.

Allen will play on-ball in the NFL, or at least if he is drafted by the 49ers

You better start scouting the day 3 LB'er kids cause we getting Chase Winovich in the second round.
