Sweats measurements are scary good and would suggest a fast explosive pass rusher. Every time was fast and more explosive than Landry. But in film Landry jumps off the screen with his explosion. And I'm not big on Landry at 9 but he has that first step that makes tackles have to put in some extra work prior to facing him.

I will say Landry had a better 20 yard shuttle and their 10 yard spits were pretty close. Kinda bummed that sweat didn't do the 3-cone for whatever reason.

End of the day the film is what matters most imo.

not the knee the wet tp. On a serious note, love this guys potential and measurables but his games is pretty awful. Hopefully it was scheme and the way he was used as some suggest, or previous injuries, but his late snap reaction is reminiscent of Armstead when he came out.

He was definitely misused at times, but you can't argue that he has a very late get off too often on tape. I'm still too intrigued to pass, tho, if the value is right. He was the first pass rusher I mocked back in may last year....what goes around comes around!

I can't argue the late get off too often on tape? It jumps off the screen on tape, you kidding me? Prove me otherwise. In every game it's consistent. I want to like him too because the measurables, but that first step is arguably the most important measurable for a pass rusher and if you don't have it, everything else is all for naught and the reason he gets stone walled more often than not, even on run plays

Absolutely. Combine is just a tool to answer some questions. But questions can pop up because of the combine as well. It also is a great way to raise eyebrows from lesser known guys. Like for me one of the better combine performers imo was Avonte Maddox and I honestly had not even heard his name prior to the draft. Still searching for more than highlights of him.

Good call.

Always.

Which leads me to one of my draft philosophies: never trust a man who points to a spreadsheet as the basis of their evaluation.

Sorry, grammatical error. I meant to say it's not arguable, or up for discussion, if he has a terrible get off. We're both saying the same thing, albeit incoherently on my end. You CANT argue, his get off is terrible

I can't get behind Sweat until the 3rd round...and even then I would probably prefer we go in another direction.

Lucky! I can get behind sweat in just a few minutes, if I'm working hard enough.
If this dude fires off the ball like this in the NFL, watch out.

Did we meet with him at the combine?

It wasn't reported if they did.
The potential on this kid is through the roof. Trade up in the 2nd and let him be our edge rusher with that 4.53 40.

40 time isn't the end all with pass rushers. Sweat has talent but let's not get overhyped cuz of the combine. He flashed enough but he has injury history and consistency has not been there at all.

Landry had 2 more sacks as a junior than Sweat had in his whole career at FSU and the dude declared after a pretty uneventful junior season with only 5.5 sacks. That scares me...

Red flags to me for a guy who's living off his athletic ability. If he's there in the 2nd I can deal with it but would prefer him in the 3rd if he was our target. Definitely not worth moving up for IMO.
