I think bottom of the 2nd and top of the 3rd is where Penny goes, pending 40 time of course. Fast 40 times can boost any players stock even a kickers.

What is your rationale for ShannaLynch passing on Barkley?

Shanahan has proven to get good production out of lower or mid to late round RBs. I just don't think Shanahan values the RB position that high, and I don't think K. Shanahan has ever been part of a team that has taken a RB in the top 10 or even 1st round.

I also think Shanahan will give Joe Williams every opportunity to redeem himself.

I would love for Shanahan to draft Barkley and wow the fan base but don't hold your breath.
Mel Kiper & Todd McShay were talking highly about Penny last night on ESPN...he's been mostly under the radar, but his stock seems to be rising. If they plan to draft this kid it could be they don't plan to re-sign Hyde. I'd be down with that...nothing against Carlos, but there continue to be excellent all-around RB's in each draft. I'd prefer Lynch spend his cap space on JG, a starting C, CB & WR.

LOL. You have never seen him play.

He's an athletically limited, upright runner who doesn't play to his size. He's got great vision and good but not great speed.

At the next level, this is a gap scheme runner, lacking in physicality.

Don't forget, al beit with a different OLINE, Pumphrey was setting records in this offense last year.

Pumphrey is NOT as big or powerful as Penny who's been running over guys even when they play teams like Stanford he has held his own and to think Running the Ball is all the Aztecs have the kid is 220. Speed? Gore seems to be doing fine without it

The question is where will he be drafted, not does his lack of speed make him the same prospect as Frank Gore

I agree, he will be a good football player for some team. Don't think he'd be worth drafting over keep Hyde tho.

Maybe if we rather pay Penny 700k instead of more than likely IMO... A firm 5.5 mill a year deal for Hyde.

Much rather a 3rd round WR, CB, SAM, OL,etc. Personally.

But, if we let Hyde go, I'd hope it's in favor of a true difference maker. Rojo gets my vote, but hey, maybe penny is that guy.
