Outside on run downs, inside on passing downs though you can put him pretty much anywhere upfront. A creative DC could find all sorts of uses for him.

If you've ever seen 'The Waterboy', think about the kicker getting ready to do an onside kick and looking around at the return team, looking for the most shook guy on the field. You could simply put Thomas up against whomever was the biggest weak spot on the OL. Identify the "b***h" and have Thomas wear him down all game.

Sounds great, but guys that don't really have one position tend to be tweeners and really never pan out.

I dont see him as a tweener as much as being ridiculously versatile due to his strength, rare athleticism and motor.

You can make him a 3 technique long term or DE but that wouldnt be using him to his full potential. Because of his skillset he will present a series of problems for anyone trying to block him so you put him in the most advantageous position possible.

He's not a tweener, he's a Swiss army knife, multi-versatile.
He's not a DT. He's a DW

Rather have Derrick Barnett

I'd rather have Salomone Thomas so there.
Honestly, we're talking about two of the best defensive players here. I don't think you could go wrong with either guy. Thomas has some insane abilities...and I wouldn't be upset if they took him at #2, however, there's a stipulation. And that is Lynch must draft one of the stud DT's to compete for a spot on our DL front. I'm talking Adams, Jaron Jones, or Watkins. I believe they will, as it makes perfect sense to acquire a young stud to grow with Armstead & Buckner. If he does those things, I think our front line has a chance to be pretty darn good.

Solomon and Garnett still buddies.
I'd like to see Lynch trade down, too...opens up more options. Go ahead & trade w/Browns...you know they want the #2 so they can get Garrett & Trubisky back-to=back. We get their #12, 33 and most likely another later 2017 pick or an early 2018'er. I'm not up on "standard" compensation for trading up 10 spots, so pls correct me if I got it a little off.

Their gm is all about getting the best value. That's entirely what they run on. They spent like 18 mil or whatever to get osweiler just so they can get a third round pick from the Texans. They even passed up Wentz for more picks. Zero chance they give up a bunch of picks for trubisky who's being projected at even the end of the first lately.
