Thomas' combine numbers in bench and 3 cone drill are a pretty decent amount better than Clowney and Mack were. He has Clowney beat in the 20 yard shuffle too. They both had him beat by jumping higher though. (Way less important than the cone drill and shuffle drill)

He's the perfect 4T end that has the ability to move all over the DLine in order to create mismatches and he's not just a speed rusher but has power to blow people up. Michael Bennett is how he refers himself and how analysts see him compared to...would be a perfect fit for our new Seattle 4-3 D and would fill a position of need.

Has there been talk of taking him at 2? I see him projected 3,4 and up in different mocks. So 2 wouldn't even be reaching.

Having a guy like this gives us a pass rush, helps our d line, and gives QBs less time to throw so it helps our DBs tremendously

I think the combine moved him up...2nd most explosive player at DE and one of the strongest there.

My brother just said he'd take Solomon Thomas over Myles Garrett. Comparing him to Justin Smith except more athletic. Whoa. I like him too, but damn...

You never know man. Athletic ability doesn't always translate to football success, even though I think Myles is actually a hard working player.

My bro thinks Garrett is "goofy" and off balance. Pointed to how he ran his 40 and how he looked in the drills. Hard to argue against that, because he did look a little "off." But I figure if you're 6'5" 275, run a 4.6 40 and have a 41" vertical, you're going to look funny because you're basically breaking laws of physics lol.

LOL no sir but I do agree with what he has to say. He is a freak of nature regardless and I would have no complaints at all if he ends up with us. I will chuckle though if he picks up a forced fumble or some how gets an INT and runs with it. He runs like a damn zombie.
Starting to think he is gonna be our pick if we stay at #2
Buckner Mitchell Armstead Thomas
Smith Bowman Armstrong
Robinson Bouye
Reid Ward

Thats a good looking defense right there

Disagree on the cone and shuttle drill being way less important. They may be slightly more important. The jump drills are indicators of explosion and lower body power. The cone and shuttle drills are indicators of agility. If you've shown on tape you can bend and turn the corner converting speed to power (which Mack does way better than Thomas), your time in a 3 cone drill run one time doesn't matter that much to me. There are plenty of sub-7 guys who have amounted to nothing in this league. Tim Williams had awful times in the 3 cone and shuttle drill. That doesn't mean he can't bend or can't be successful as a situational pass rusher.

Solomon Thomas would've been ranked lower than Joey Bosa in last year's class in my opinion. Bosa is longer, as athletic, and has better hand usage. He's a poor man's Aaron Donald and that doesn't get you drafted in the top 3 of most drafts. Yes, he's a great player and he's one of the candidates for the #2 pick, but we wouldn't be talking about him like a god in any draft.

Joey Bosa 6-5 269
4.86 40, 33 3/8 inch arms 10 1/4 inch hands, 32 inch vertical, 120 inch broad jump, 6.89 3 Cone, 4.21 20 yard Shuttle, 24 reps 225

Solomon Thomas 6-25 273
4.69 40, 33 inch arms 9 3/8 inch hands, 35 inch vertical, 126 inch broad jump, 6.95 3 Cone, 4.28 20 yard Shuttle, 30 Reps 225

Splitting hairs here but they are pretty close, Bosa a little more agile and Thomas more explosive, stronger and faster.

Bosa put up 28 reps at his pro day with longer arms, so strength is pretty much a wash. He also struck me as more flexible which is something you can't really tell from the measurables (you can from some of the drills), but is important, especially off the edge. And he was 7 months younger when drafted. Teams were looking at Bosa as a 3-4 OLB potentially while Thomas seems to be a 4-3 strongside end, a 3-4 DE, or an undersized 4-3 DT (he could rotate there on passing downs).
