It's looking like this guy will be one of the most talented players available at #2. I can see he's a great prospect, but I'm concerned about his fit with this team. He's long and powerful, but a bit of a tweener, a DEs body, but played mostly inside at Stanford. With a player this good that's called versatility and is a positive trait. However, we have a wealth of those long, powerful pocket-pusher types. I feel our greater need is a weakside edge rusher, lighter, nimbler, with a nose for the QB. Someone like Garrett or Derek Barnett.
Thoughts? Am I wrong to have this concern?

With Garrett gone, and if we don't go QB, then he's who I want.

The thing about Thomas is he is an athletic freak. Just because he played inside at Stanford doesn't mean he can't shift outside. Using the combine to measure their physical talent Thomas is closer to Garett than Barnett is.

Just about the worst running form ive seen in a great athlete.
Oh well, bob hayes had bad form also.

And he was 7 months younger when drafted. Teams were looking at Bosa as a 3-4 OLB potentially while Thomas seems to be a 4-3 strongside end, a 3-4 DE, or an undersized 4-3 DT (he could rotate there on passing downs).
3/8 inch longer arms...bosa does seem pretty damn flexible though for his size

True. But Barnett, like Elvis dumerville, has an outside pass rusher's mentality and skill set, which exceeds his combine measurables. We've seen guys like Eli Harold, or Manny Lawson back in the day, who have the physical skill set but not the intangibles that make them a force getting after the qb.

You're talking like Thomas isn't a pass rusher. You should check out some of his game film dude is a monster who dominates the pass rush and plays the run as just as well.

I watched a few full games this season. But I did see his a good amount of his tape. Just funny how people always compare prospects to their comp in draft profile.

Yeah I don't really get the Justin Smith comparisons. Well I do and I don't. Same build sort of and both have good hand movement and play smart and quick to diagnose plays but I think Justin's game was more strength where Thomas is more quickness.
If we can't trade down and don't think the QBs are worth it then he's my guy. Tweener or not this dude will make plays for anyone who drafts him.
