They aren't drafting a safety at two

Why not if Ward moving is a smokescreen? If we can't trade down, which I think when it's all said and done we will(with a good possibility twice in the first),I'm taking Hooker(if Ward in fact is a smokescreen) or reaching for Barnett.

Why would they bother to put up a smokescreen? To stop the Browns guessing our move and taking one?

To create an opportunity to trade down and get him

Right we still have three very young safeties on this team...why draft yet another safety?

Sure imo there's a ton of players that can be put in back pocket but imo he's not top of the list. If we're gonna go DB I'm looking at a lock down CB like latimore over a safety.

Would make it the 3rd safety in the 1st round in 5 years...wow...

What?
Just answering the question...Reid, Ward and if we draft another, three in 5 years.

and Tartt in the second round.

but i guess if we get Hooker, we would be keeping Ward at CB so this would technically be the 2nd safety in 5 years in the 1st round

I'll take Thomas at 2.
If we still have the #2 pick and we take a non-QB due to a trade, Thomas could definitely be the pick. Not ideal position wise but I think he'll play at SAM on base, LDE in nickel but can kick inside as well, and also play at 3T for both base and nickel. That Stanford pedigree doesn't hurt as well.

And Reid is probably gone, then Ward and Tartt on contract years in 2018. But correct Ward would stay at CB. But what happens in 2018 at SS, don't you gotta draft someone to push Tartt and prepare for Tartt possibly leaving?

Deep DB draft...grab one in the mid rounds and use F/A.

Hope next year Ward and Tartt make us extend him, wish I could say the same thing for Reid but even if he does have a good season.... if Tartt is ready, you let him walk. If Tartt isn't the future, then maybe keep Reid unless you draft someone or get one in FA.
How does he measure up against Myles?? I'm about to watch tape on him. His combine numbers were pretty similar to Myles. And his cone drills were similar to Joey Bosa's.

If Solomon is really legit then I'd take him at 2. You gotta use 2 on a total game changer like pass rusher, franchise linebacker, quarterback. Not a damn RB or DB.

They both were game changers for their teams respectively. Including the sun bowl he's singlehandedly helped them win a few games this year with impact plays.

And he went up against tougher competition . He'd be talked about like a god if Myles wasn't in this draft.

Thomas' combine numbers in bench and 3 cone drill are a pretty decent amount better than Clowney and Mack were. He has Clowney beat in the 20 yard shuffle too. They both had him beat by jumping higher though. (Way less important than the cone drill and shuffle drill)
I don't see why Thomas couldn't play Leo. Then move inside on passing downs.

Did someone say he can't?

We aren't drafting him to play SAM at 2. The last thing you want his him trying to drop back in coverage.

The whole point of Leo is bringing pass rush on passing downs. Kicking him inside doesn't fill the hole.
