Zay Jones' father is former ECU linebacker Robert Jones. Robert Jones was a Consensus All-American LB at ECU back in the early 90s. He was a first round draft pick for the Cowboys and was named NFC Rookie of the Year.

He would do really well as a slot receiver here.
Originally posted by valrod33:150 catches and only 8 of them were TDs and he only averaged 11 yards a catch. Gross

Is he a decent player beating up on crappy teams, or is he getting it done if/when they match up with a top program? He doesn't look big or fast to me, just looks like a competitor with good technique and great hands.

He looked the part to me on the limited footage I seen.

Were his 73 and 69 yard games against good programs whose names we'd recognize? Was he just beating up on tiny programs when he had his big games? Is anyone else concerned that he plays small schools and only averages 10 yards per catch? WRs are hard to project into the NFL. A small school possession guy with average size and speed is even more difficult, imo.
I don't hate him. I don't even know him. I'm just leery of using production to assess a player, because no player, ESPECIALLY a WR, operates in a vacuum. Other than the hands, I don't see any traits that stand out in any particular way.
He beats up on bad teams for sure, but still shows well vs better teams.
22 catches vs South Carolina
10 catches vs Virginia Tech
His former teammate Justin Hardy put up big numbers in the same offense and ended up being drafted in the 4th. I can see 4th/5th round for Zay as well.
He will be playing at Senior Bowl. You can see more of him there.
