He currently has 151 receptions, 1685 yards, and 8 tds....this year

He would do really well as a slot receiver here.
How's this guy very different than Burbridge? Little faster, little lighter, way less competition?
Nice prospect

Burbridge Career: 165 catches, 2174 yards, 10 TDS

Zay Jones 2016 (1 more game to go): 151 catches, 1685 yards, 8 TDs

So the answer to your question is.....production.

Right. Against WHO? I'm not even trying to be a dick. I haven't really watched him. Is he a decent player beating up on crappy teams, or is he getting it done if/when they match up with a top program? He doesn't look big or fast to me, just looks like a competitor with good technique and great hands.

Dude is averaging 15 catches, 155 yards, and .75 TDs per game.

His worst games had stat line of 7-73, and 11-69. Those are his only games under 115 receiving yards this season.

6 of 11 games he has gone for 170 yards or more.

Right. Against who? Were his 73 and 69 yard games against good programs whose names we'd recognize? Was he just beating up on tiny programs when he had his big games? Is anyone else concerned that he plays small schools and only averages 10 yards per catch? WRs are hard to project into the NFL. A small school possession guy with average size and speed is even more difficult, imo.

I don't hate him. I don't even know him. I'm just leery of using production to assess a player, because no player, ESPECIALLY a WR, operates in a vacuum. Other than the hands, I don't see any traits that stand out in any particular way.

He beats up on bad teams for sure, but still shows well vs better teams.

22 catches vs South Carolina
10 catches vs Virginia Tech

His former teammate Justin Hardy put up big numbers in the same offense and ended up being drafted in the 4th. I can see 4th/5th round for Zay as well.

He will be playing at Senior Bowl. You can see more of him there.

Cant wait! Some really interesting guys to watch for sure.

Gerald Everett, Ryan Switzer, Amba Etta-Tawo, Dede Westbrook, Cooper Kupp, amd Evan Engram as WRs and TEs, then guys like Tanoh Kpassagnon and Vince Biegel on defense.

Also if there is a change at HC for some reason, I'd love to keep an eye on Sam Rogers. A FB that can be a receiving threat as well as a great pass/run blocker. I just wish the 49ers used a FB still

We don't have Zay's combine #'s yet but Burbridge ran a pedestrian 4.56, got little separation in college and no YAC there either. There's a reason he was a 6th round pick. I hated that pick.

I'd at least wait until we see some numbers on him before writing him off. His production is there.
Bump. One of my favorite WR's. Has a little Dez in him , 50/50 balls look like 70/30 balls in his favor. Excellent work ethic and very hungry. Great awareness. Great hands, probably best in the draft. I think I read somewhere he had like 1 career drop? Talking about a guy with 400 career Receptions.

I would say his weaknesses are lacking good top end speed can struggle in press coverage, played a lot of slot early in his career. But at the minimum a solid possession wr with a high floor.

After Senior bowl and Combine, Couldn't see him getting past pick 45-50.
