Erm, assuming Kaepernick walks at season's end I rather think you will find QB is, by a mile, our weakest position. I don't mind taking Garrett if he is available as he looks like the best player in the draft, but then weave to pick up a high rated QB prospect. Receivers can come later.

This. If Kaep leaves than QB and pass rusher instantly become the team's biggest holes. Then if Dorsey leaves and Ian Williams already being a pending free agent as well coupled with how unknown William's abilities will be after so many injuries these last few years then Nose tackle and receivers become the next holes.

It's impossible to fill all your holes in one offseason and Chip has atleast proven that he can get guys open with mediocre receiver talent at his disposal. If Kaep leaves then QB, pass rusher, and nose tackle need to be the immediate areas of concentration in the draft and free agency.

Clemson HC Dabo Swinney said that he believes senior WR Mike Williams is a more complete receiver than former Tiger wideouts Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins.


"[Williams] can sink his hips, he's got [Hopkins'] ball skills. He's incredibly intelligent. He's passionate about the ball, about his technique, and the discipline of route-running," Swinney said, "like Sammy was. He's a load. He's going to be a great, great, great pro." In 12 regular-season games this year, the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder has worked to a 79-1114-10 receiving line. He is expected to declare for the 2017 NFL Draft, presumably after Clemson has completed its bowl assignment, be that Playoff or otherwise.

I don't see the logic in Colin leaving if Chip stays. Even still, I don't see QB being our biggest weakness. Even resigning gabbert makes pass rush and wide receiver our biggest weakness.'

You think he's gonna find a starting job that's gonna pay him more outside of SF next yr? If chip stays he stay Imho.

Qbs make WRs better...I think kap stays but we still need to draft and develop someone because we have zero signed for next yr outside of him.

It all depends who's there when we pick in the 2nd as well.

They definitely can. Even in this offense, we see differences in the passing offense between Gabbert and Kaepernick in terms of receiver production. I'd like a Mike Williams in this offense, but should we stay in the number 2 position, it would be hard for me to pass up Garrett or Trubisky. With that said, although QBs make receivers better, Vance McDonald is having the best season of his career. Patton had a 100 yard game, so there are some flickers that are receivers are improving. Even Torrey Smith showed a glimmer of light. He would look a lot better in the number 2 position and could be used as the deep threat he is on a regular basis. It likely will not be Mike Williams, but someone is needed, regardless of who the QB is.

If we moved down I'm all for Williams top two you got to go Myles or Mitch

I doubt we go receiver in the first round unless we trade back or trade back up into the first round to grab a guy.

This. Would absolutely love Williams but only if we feel the need to trade down with TEN and collect both of their 1st rounders (and a few other early picks/future picks). Outside of that, I think he goes mid-1st and it would cost too much to jump up from pick #34.

It seems like it usually take offensive players a bit longer to adjust to the NFL than defensive players. With that being said and acknowledging that it is going to take more than one offseason to fix this team, would we not be better suited to build the core of the offense first and then the defense second? Doing something crazy like trading back with our 1st round pick to gather 2 firsts from the titians or an additional second round pick could allow us to pick up Williams, Watson, and John Ross in the first two rounds. Yes the defense still has major issues that the rest of the 2017 draft will not fix, but we realize it is going to take the new offensive passing game core a year or two to get comfortable as well. I am still on the Garrett bandwagon but I doubt he will be there. I say fix the passing game now so they have time to gel as we build up around them over the next couple years.

The Titans, or any other team for that matter, are not giving up multiple first round picks to move up for our spot. For who? Nobody warrants that type of move aside from a QB, and if the QB is worthy of being traded up for, why the hell aren't we taking him?

It could also be a 1 and an additional 2 as stated in the post. This time last year people were saying no QB's are worth the top pick in the draft... Well they got multiple 1st and 2nd rounds picks if you count the trades needed to get them. With out counting Garrett you still have trade potential with Jonathan Allen and potentially Peppers, two positions that we have invested heavily in. Thats not even counting the QBs that are sitting with some questions marks just like last year. We would just need one team to want one of the QB's we do not, or value them less than a high 1st round pick to move down.Curious to why you think people should stop posting these type of scenarios just because you do not believe in them?

As to why would we trade down if someone wants to trade up for a QB? What if the Jets want to jump the Bears for Kizar and we have him behind Williams and Watson. You can make that trade. Same goes for Mitch. Just because another team rates a player highly does not automatically mean we should. If we rate one of the QBs as a top 2 pick and he is there then we take him, but in this scenario and assuming we keep Kelly I do not believe that would be the case.
