Eagles trading up for Goff

I'd actually love to see it...Baalke gets the best DL in the draft and it costs him nothing. What was a weakness in 2015 all of a sudden would arguably be the best young front 3 in the league.

dude no way in HELL SD draft's a QB ABSOLUTELY NONE!

Why not? Rivers still may be cocky and have a few good years left, but he's 34 now. If they think they have their QB of the future sitting there, makes since to take him. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

It would surprise me. Rivers looked perfectly fine last season, just had an awful OL.

What San Diego needs above all else right now is to win games. Asking the public for help with a new stadium goes over a lot easier if your team is winning games. A guy holding a clipboard for 3-4 years doesnt get you there.

A couple of things on this -
1. Yes, it was a weakness but relative to how weak were in other positions I think it was a relative strength (above OL, QB, TE, WR, ILB)
2. Adding Buckner makes us far from the best young front 3 in the league. Armstead showed very little in his first year, Ian Williams has a very discouraging injury, and Buckner is all projection. We're not even in the same conversation as the Jets that have three young established stars. Just thinking out loud here, who was the last good defensive player to come out of Oregon? Was it Haloti Ngata? The only top picks on the defensive side I can remember were busts.

Kiko Alonso was the PFW Defensive Rookie of the Year and finished 2nd to Sheldon Richardson for the AP honors. Injuries really have set him back but he was as good as any ILB in football in 2013.

This! I'm not sold on any of the top three qbs, plus we have so many other needs to adress.

You won't address all of those needs this offseason. If the team is convinced that Goff or Wentz can be a franchise QB for them, then you pull the trigger. There is no need that is more important.

If they aren't, then you go BPA but QB will have to be addressed eventually, early in the draft, whether it is this year or next, I don't see the team sticking with Kaepernick or Gabbert long term.

Good call
Misleading title. How about "Eagles Trading up for Goff?" with a ? Mark.

Sounds like you're talking about a report coming in. Thank you and come again.

Why post when none of our opinions matter? You have absolutely no impact on what the 49ers do in the draft so why are you wasting your time typing meaningless words on a forum?

I guess if your a horrible GM sure. Like I said Peters is most likely in his last season with Philly (judging from his contract) plus they are weak on the OL to begin with. They have no secondary and their starting RB is a 29 year old injury prone RB and a 32 yr old scat back.

It's gonna cost them at least their 3rd round pick a probably much much more. Your telling me you think it's smart to lose multiple picks when you currently have a QB that started playing well as the season went on and got a QB that your new HC loves? They wouldn't draft again until at least the 100th pick lol

It's not smart and makes no sense I have no idea why people keep bringing this up...the rams make more sense in a move up.

If the 49ers really did want a QB and they worried about Philly they can just move up with Jacksonville. Jaguars only drop 2 spots with one of them guaranteed to be used up by a QB and they get a high 3rd round pick to boot.

The Eagles don't have a 2nd, they'd have to pony up both their 3rd round picks to counter the 49ers offer, meaning that their next pick in the draft wouldn't happen until the mid 4th round. I don't see them dropping all those picks for a guy who would likely sit on the bench for them for a couple of years.

If the 49ers really wanted to go all in on a QB, their 1st and 2nd rounder would get them to #4, potentially even #3.

Completely agree

AND I don't seeing Trent doing that.
Very good possibility that Philly trades up. Have been saying it since they moved up to #8. Bradford is not a franchise QB and is only on a two year deal and is in no way a threat to keep them from grabbing Wentz/Goff if they think they are a franchise QB. Just an expensive stop-gap, nothing more.

Brett Favre was 35 when the Packers took Aaron Rodgers, and then Rodgers sat for three seasons. Build for the future.

There is a HUGE difference between using the 24th pick in the draft on a QB for the future and using the 3rd pick in the draft for the same.

San Diego doesn't have a future if they can't protect Rivers. Their OL ranked worse than the 49ers last season. Their defense was atrocious as well.

They are a team that needs to win games right now, for their HC and GM's sakes, as well as for the ownership and their initiative to build a stadium in San Diego. You don't get the public onboard with that by saying "well, we only won 4 games but in 3-4 years, this QB we drafted is going to be something special."

QB for them isn't happening, at least not early in the draft.

The Rams are more of a threat. The NFL wants this team to hit the ground running. What better way than to draft a Golden Boy from Cal. This decision may have already been made, I don't trust the NFL on any matter.
