Part of this part of that means you have no opinion, so why post?Originally posted by miked1978:Part of me says if there is a franchise QB available within your grasp you do what it takes to get him.
The other part of me says if Chip thinks we can win with what's on the roster then you take BPA. I keep thinking if he made Foles look good i think he can do that with Gabbert and even Kap if he is still here.
Draft day can't come soon enough.

Baalke gets heat from clueless people, but he's a smart GM. If the only slam dunk pick in the top 10 --Myles Jack --is gone, we will trade out and let another team take a qb out of desperation. Get a solid player in the middle of the first and use the added firepower to move up a few spots and get cook if we need to
The Jack hype has gone beyond nuts. A year ago people weren't sure if he was an ILB or a RB. Now teams aren't sure if he's a S or an ILB but suddenly he is "the only slam dunk pick."
Without considering a QB I would put Ramsey, Buckner and Tunsil ahead of him.

I'd like to see either Goff or Buckner at #7 but it seems both may be off the board. If so, I wouldn't mind Baalke trading back to take Spence or Lawson and pick up another early pick. They could still pick up a QB later and there are many good DL in this draft.
CBS has Lawson rated #13 and Spence at 29. Another second rounder might allow them to pick up a WR (Thomas?) and OG (Alexander?).

Ramsey wo
Good point about Jack, it's hard to peg exactly what he is. Only fact we have is that anytime he steps on the field he jumps off the tape as a dynamic game changing player. Same way Willis' college tape looked and right up baalkes alley
i could see where Ramsey fits this argument, he's the 2nd best player in top 10. nothing against tunsil specifically but tackles are a crap shoot at the top of the draft taking him out of slam dunk territory. Buckner is solid, a good piece of the puzzle. He won't play a position in our d that would make him dynamic. We could fill that slot with a mid rounderOriginally posted by Phoenix49ers:The Jack hype has gone beyond nuts. A year ago people weren't sure if he was an ILB or a RB. Willis was far more polished. He came out of college about as NFL ready as any player in the past 30 years.
With Jack youre getting a guy with a ton of upside but a guy who in many ways is still a project learning the nuances of being a linebacker. Missing virtually his entire college season did him no favors.
For me its a pretty straightforward choice to go with Buckner, a guy with very good upside but also a guy who is ready to start and play most snaps from Day 1 over Jack.

This....but minus the caps. Rivers is 34 and coming off one of his best career years. I see the Chargers taking a flyer on a QB in the midrounds but not before.

Strongly disagree regarding Buckner! Justin Smith was a difference maker and while Buckner may never be JS, combined with Armstead they could create pocket pressure for years to come. Buckner gets more pressure than Armstead, who is more of a contain and push kind of DL.
But I agree with those who say Baalke knows more than we do and will likely know who is the most sure to be elite! I really can't tell between Buckner, Goff, Ramsey and Jack who is most likely to be that special player. Maybe all of them.

Once again, if the 49ers really want a QB, they are in a better position to move up for one than are the Rams or Eagles.
If the 49ers don't want a QB, then it doesn't matter one bit what either of those teams does other than it would drop another high quality talent to the 49ers spot.
This! I'm not sold on any of the top three qbs, plus we have so many other needs to adress.
