Patriots worked out Sammie Coates very hard. Hell of a smoke screen if they're not interested. Dude is huge.

Guessing they are looking at him with the last pick in the 2nd round which is about right. 1st round is way too early for a WR with stone hands, but he has a lot of physical tools and was pretty productive as well.
Coates wont excel with Kaepernick because he doesn't throw easily catchable passes. We need receivers with great hands that can handle his fastball.
Watching Auburn's Pro Day was a waste of time to evaluate Coates. The Camera operator had no clue what to focus on through most of the Receiver drills. Saw a lot of the QB standing around instead of the Receivers. Coates seemed get more throws from an Assistant Coach for whatever reason....

Based upon what the Announcers had to say about Coates, he didn't really do much to alleviate the concerns about bad hands. Described as hit or miss. Sounds like he dropped one easy catch and made one spectacular sideline catch. Built like a stud though.

Gabe Wright stood out though. Corey Grant looked pretty good too.
It it was my draft, I'd take either Strong or Parker early and Devin Smith to be my speed guy. The two big WR's have all the tools...size, strength, and savvy. Smith really impressed me in the playoffs, excelling against both 'Bama and Oregon. Love his ability to adjust to the ball on the deep throws. Coates needs to go to a team that can develop him over time...he's just not a good fit for the Niners.
I'd pick him in the late 2nd or 3rd
