FYI I was all about OBJ and had SF moving up in my mock last year . He is fast, ran crisp routes, has long arms (for his height) and huge hands.

I agree with this. We could easily find players who share the physical attributes of Jerry Rice who may not even be drafted. Dorsett is nowhere near as polished as Brown and there are dozens of receivers who share their attributes but don't turn into Antonio Browns. I loved OBJ last season for the same reasons and argued against a lot of Brandin Cooks fans on here who wanted him instead.

Dorsett isn't the route runner OBJ was coming out and doesn't have the same long arms and huge hands. He will probably never be half as good as OBJ was as a rookie, but he could still be a decent player in the second or third round. I'd take Devin Smith over Dorsett because he's shown more ability to track deep balls and is bigger and more physical (only slightly slower despite what the 40's say). I still find it surprising that people are mocking Dorsett in the first round when he wasn't that productive in college and is small with short arms. He's like a much less polished Brandin Cooks.

As much as I love Dorsett, the lack of college production is the only reason why Baalke may shy away from him. He proved himself as a viable deep threat his senior season, but a very small sample size. I don't think he caught more than 35 passes. I don't see Dorsett as a first round pick at all however, no matter how much I want him on our team, and I'd honestly prefer if we could draft him later (4th round), but I won't be terribly disappointed if we went after him earlier (second round). But if some team jumps the gun and takes him earlier, there are other deep threat guys that could bring that same element to our offense.

I will be a little upset if we don't draft this guy. His draft stock will shoot up come draft time, I suspect. Maybe, we should trade back a few and select him with wherever in the 1st he ends up.

I really just doubt that he'll be a 49er.. unless he falls to the 6th or 7th round..

Drafting him basically means that Patton and Ellington are done.... already??

True, but , Baalke always likes to address needs with quality and quantity. This guy is capable of playing on the outside IMO and he's only 5,10. And I'd keep Ellington and cause Patton to have to earn a spot somehow.

Imagine if he had a QB who could throw him open. He'd be running full speed the whole time, instead of having to always decelerate to the football.
