and he'll re sign with them if they win it all this year... why wouldn't he, it's easier to be a star when the rest of your fellow linemen are a bunch of good players.

This is why BUCKO has yet to do anything for us, he's the only good DL we have and all attentions are on him..

When we had Justin Smith and Al-drunk Smith, both McDonald and Soup got better suddenly..

What signing? he's a rental

If anything, this is a good trade for the niners. We aren't competing with the Rams this year at all. Now they have a couple less draft picks to work with in future years where hopefully we are much better.

The Rams are contenders bud, we are not. How does that not make sense?

Players have very little choice in the matter if any. If the gm likes the deal it gets done. Being a contender or not doesn't matter, a part of the job is making the team better at an acceptable cost.

Make sense yet?

Are you willing to franchise tag Fowler? Because that's the only way I'd consider trading two 2019 draft picks for him.

It's possible his 2-3 sacks in the final 8 games would help us win an extra game or two. Which would help take us out of position for Bosa. Then if we don't franchise tag Fowler we end up with neither Bosa or Fowler.

Trading for Fowler = higher chance of having neither Fowler or Bosa in 2019, and with two less draft picks.

Not trading for Fowler = equal chance to signing Fowler as a free agent, drafting Bosa, and we keep two of our draft picks.

Seriously...can't believe people are this upset at not getting him.

I wanted him in free agency...that's a total different thing. Considering this offseason will be SUPER important to getting things back on track using our draft picks to add a player who will actually hurt our draft status just to win some meaningless games this year and then STILL cost a big contract or we watch him go out the door is silly.

Fowler isn't even a stud rusher that you go all in on. Hell if anything I hope the Rams tag him or pay him a huge contract to extend him...will make their window that much smaller.

My guess is they'll try to use Fowler to help them make that D even scarier next to Suh, Brockers and Darnold and hope they win the SB then let the guy walk. It would be well worth it for them but I'd be shocked if they extended him.
Franchise tag? Noooooo no no no

A 3rd I'd think about it real hard.
You're using that 3rd hopefully on a quality starter anyway.

Hell sign with whoever pays him the most. He's not gonna take less just because they won. Rams need to budget for Goffs impending contract anyway.

But when you use that 3rd on a quality starter he'll be there for your team in 2019-2022, not 8 games in 2018 when you're already 1-7.

For those of you who want Shane Ray. He's injured and has only played in a 3-4 in the NFL. How will someone like that help us all that much?

It's a solid plan by the rams. Basically, they are betting on getting a late 3rd in 2020 (comp) for a late 3rd in 2019 for the pass rushing services of a talented edge, who really only needs to set the table for Donald or clean up his messes.

The SAM in this scheme is essentially a 3-4 OLB. The LEO in this scheme is essentially what a 3-4 OLB does in nickel packages. It's not that big of a stretch.

none of the bottom tier teams made trades to improve their team. Lol this is isn't Madden.

Shane ray has one sack this year, Fowler has 2. People need chill and stop acting like they're worth the draft capital. They're marginally better than marsh. Season's over, might as well keep the few picks we have and wait to retool this coming offseason.
