Dante Fowler/Shane Ray, EDGE

Glad he got signed. He would have been a mistake.
Wonder why he didn't hit free agency vs taking a 1 year deal.
Bummer. This is a lesson for all those who wanted him but said it was pointless to trade since we could just sign him in free agency. We weren't competing but we had the advantage of locking him up with an extension or a franchise tag, or having him fall in love with our locker room and signing a good deal. Happens all the time in sports. Lakers thought it was a guarantee PG13 was coming home but dude fell in love with OKC and wanted to be on a squad that did whatever they could to acquire him.

He's had ups and downs but at only 24, dude still has biiiiiiig time potential.

I think that kid still has a ton of potential , torn acl rookie year, then never really got starting time until last year .

And theyre likely letting 4 out of 9 of their highest earners from 2018 go

1. Suh was 14.5 mil
2. Joyner was 11.3 mil
8. Sullivan was 8.1 mil
9. Saffold was 8 mil

Good hopefully they downgrade on center and guard

His agent probably gave him a heads up on just how lukewarm his market would. Despite all the hype, he had 4 sacks last season total. He's always been more potential than actual production.

He's got a ton of talent but has to turn in some improved output next year to get that big money payday he's chasing.

At some point, if your potential is dominant edge rusher then you've got to start putting up some consistent dominant edge rusher #s, whether sacks, pressures, hurries, whatever metric you want to use, Fowler hasn't been it yet.
I could see the 9ers signing Shane Ray on a 1 year prove it deal if they end up drafting QW. Could Ray play SAM on base downs, or is he strictly a pass rusher?

What's up with Shane Ray? Been crickets out there in FA so far.

The entire edge free agent class has moved pretty slowly. So he probably wont get signed until the top guys are gone.

Yeah, true. I wish I was privy to what the Niners think about Ray. I believe Adam Peters was there when they drafted him in Denver.

we definitely won't. Need O-Line, S and WR too much to do that.

I think he is average at the very best. Possibly below average. If you get those low sack numbers with two of the best defensive lines in football, you got problems.
