Allen Robinson best FA WR

or work out a deal of some sort.

I heard someone say last week that the Jags aren't going to tag Robinson. At least that's the word on Jacksonville radio.

I'd be surprised. It seems like they have A LOT of receivers. Tagging Robinson would probably be more than all the others are paid combined. Should they fall short I can also see them trying to add something in FA.

I doubt they franchise as well but the Jags are far from set at WR. Lee is a FA as well and Burns can be released from his bad contract with $0 in dead money. There's a very good chance they must replace all three (or try to resign).

Cole did emerge late in the season but they are a contender that likely will need to sign multiple outside WRs (Cole is slot).

They could decide to release Hurns and bite the bullet on a franchise tag Robinson to ensure they have options. If Robinson bounces back they can pay him big money on an extension. If he doesn't, they are free and clear and have the money to sign a top WR the following year.

Basically, if they've decided Hurns will be cut and neither Lee nor Robinson seem close to an extension they could franchise to avoid going into the offseason desperate for a WR. A contending team willingly deciding to risk their receiving core to the whims of FAs and the draft would be weird.

IMHO they would be wise to cut Hurns and let Lee Walk. Retain ARob who was by far and large their best receiver and they still would have Westbrook, Cole and Mickens to pair with him. Could add another receiver to round out the corps via FA or the draft.
If the Jags for some reason go all the way & win it without him i bet they gamble & let the man walk especially knowing they won without him they'd go in a different direction. Opens the door for us to go after this stud. We need a red zone target in the worst way, Robinson should be priority #1 if he does become available

I don't think they even need to win it all to realize they can win without him. They still have a good amount of cap space but if they want to keep that defense in place it will cost them.

Another overrated player.. I would not give him more than 2 million a year... he's not even better than his x-teammate (BLACKMON) who got in trouble under the WEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDD !!!

I thought it was the liq and DUI's that killed Blackmons career.
Don't know if this was brought up earlier in the thread, but Allen Robinson was chose with the 49ers 2nd round pick in the 2014 draft. Our GM at the time traded that pick for picks that turned into Marcus Martin and Aaron Lynch.

He was also chosen 1 pick before Jimmy GQ!

Why can't we just take a legit WR in the draft?

Is not that I have a problem in paying a free agent WR $14.5 mil, but if Julio Jones is only on $14.2 mil, then is just too steep for a guy like Allen Robinson in my opinion.

How many rookie wr's make an impact right away? Robinson is the best option
Just pay the passer first. Then we need to get a pass rusher by way of draft or FA. Then we need to shore up the OL. Afterwards we can get help at DB. The odds and ends like WR RB etc can come later.

The one thing I agree with Baalke on is getting big in the middle but I'll just amend that to say get good on both lines. Bill Walsh believed in prioritizing the passer then the pass rusher. He believed in drafting defense and in grooming offensive players. We have a chance to do this now if we can keep Jimmy G healthy

JJ got his deal done in 2015.

OK, fine take Robinson then since Jimmy G is already ready to win.

But, I am not giving up in drafting a legit WR. Is about time the 9ers learn how to coach up top talents.
