So I was just reading comments to an article about free agents coming to the niners and seen in the comments someone say he has an opt out clause in his contract after this season and it's true, I kno it's crazy to think or maybe more like wishful thinking but he isn't having the year he did under Shanahan and if the falcons do nothing this year he could want out and exercise that opt out clause and become a free agent, but then the falcons can tag him correct ? Or is there something in the contract they can't if he opts out ? I kno this is a pipe dream but cool to imagine and converse about, I mean the thought of him wanting to play for Shanahan is not crazy..

Atl doesn't have any real negotiating power and we are not desperate for a WR. Now if it were an ER, then we might have to give up something more valuable than just draft picks

Atl doesn't have any real negotiating power and we are not desperate for a WR. Now if it were an ER, then we might have to give up something more valuable than just draft picks

I was offering that as a value comparison for 49er fans to consider if they are promoting a deal.

Using PFF's overall rankings, Jones is the #3 overall WR with a rating of 91.4. Buckner is the #6 DI with a rating of 90.4. Very similar ratings and rankings. To get one, you have to give equal value.

Julio Jones & the Falcons are working intensively to resolve their contract differences, hoping to avoid Jones' planned training camp holdout. The sides are focused on creatively addressing Jones' ability to earn more than his $10.5 milllion base in '18. Hopeful but not done yet

We would have to give up more than just Buckner.

The #Falcons and WR Julio Jones have agreed on a revised contract that adjusts his 2018 salary. He's showing up, as the team announced. This is a move that's cap neutral, so it won't affect other deals getting done.
