Could the 49ers target a WR? Lots of names available...

Morgan may be OK, but I'm not content with just "OK" and neither should any of us. Like Patrick Willis said.. I am tired of losing, as are the rest of us fans.

With that said, although I don't expect us to make a move for a WR, anyone think we could take a shot? There are some solid names out there that are available, including some recent/soon to be cuts. Of course, it's highly doubtful we get into a bidding war for any of the top names, but.. here's the list of available receivers that I wouldn't mind considering.

2011 Available Receivers:

Roy Williams - Signed by Bears
Steve Breaston - Signed by Chiefs
Derrick Mason
Plaxico Burress
Mark Clayton
Braylon Edwards
Malcolm Floyd
T.J. Houshmandzadeh
James Jones
Randy Moss
Terrell Owens
Sidney Rice - Signed by Seahawks
Mike Sims-Walker - Signed by Rams
Steve Smith [NYG]
Courtney Roby
Laurent Robinson
Brandon Stokely
Michael Spurlock

If we go after a WR, it better be someone to start opposite Crabtree. From that list Braylon and Steve Smith(NYG) would be my top choices.

Wouldn't hurt to pick up someone.

lets bring spurlock back and fire the tazer up again
I would like:

Rice
Jones
Floyd
Robinson

In that order.

A lot of those other guys would be fine. But these are the ones I think would help us the most.
Also Steve Smith from the Giants.

He's pretty clutch.

That would be the ideal scenario, with Morgan and Ronald Johnson able to play in the slot.

I wouldn't waste money on a big name WR until we know we have a QB that can get the most out of him.

Replacing Morgan with one of the bigger names would upgrade the talent level, but I don't see it as a difference maker on the field. Somebody's still got to get the ball to him.

Sydney rice would be pretty nice to have opposite Crabtree especially with his background in the WCO, just think he wants a pretty hefty contract

Floyd. We need someone bigger than 6 feet tall.

Smith would be huge for us to have on 3rd down. He would be my number one option, as he would have a ton of production, doesn't drop many passes, and wouldn't cost as much as Braylon or some of these other guys.

I'm all for Floyd also.
Assuming he would be cheap, I would go for Roy Williams. The guy was a beast in Detroit, could never believe the trade to Dallas. Not sure WTF happened there, but I gotta believe he could be a massive pickup if we get him on the cheap. If he still sucks, then dump him, no harm no foul.
Sidney Rice is probably my favorite pick out of that list.
