2011 FA's
Alex:
Both sides want out and it is painfully obvious. Watching Alex block the TV camera with his helmet was priceless.
VD:
Resigned thank god.
Goldson:
Gone unless he lowers his asking price to stay in-town.
Aubrayo:
We franchise him and haven't offered him a new contract with 3 weeks left? I think it's obvious we will be looking for a NT in the draft or FA.
Manny:
Gone, just isn't the OLB we need.
Takeo:
I think we will resign him at vet minimum and look for a successor in FA or draft or finally see if Bowman was good pick.
Baas:
Has proven to be a solid center, depending on Heitmann's future with the team, 30 and neck surgery? He might call it quits. I hope we address this issue fast
Ray:
Definitely worth a bit a pay day. He won't want a ton so I hope he stays
Tony Wragge -
gone, too old maybe vet min
Demetric Evans -
gone, too old maybe vet min
Brian Westbrook -
gone, we flat out lied to him for over 5 months. Unless the new coach does some ass kissing.
Barry Sims -
gone, too old maybe vet min
2012/2013 FA's potential trade pieces
David Carr:
Someone can be duped into taking him off our hands or we'll cut him
Moran Norris:
Same line as above. I hope we get Stanley Havili from USC this year to replace him.
Adam Snyder:
I definitely feel we can upgrade from him and should try and unload him asap.
Chilo Rachal:
Next year is his contract year, I hope the invest pays off and he steps up next year.
Eric Heitmann:
With Heitmann's status completely unknown going forward we need to invest in a center this year either in FA or draft.
Isaac Sopoaga:
Will probably earn an extension next year. He's been great.
Ahmad Brooks:
Next year will be his contract year and will probably be around for awhile unless he thinks two high of a number.
Reggie Smith:
if we commit to Goldson look for reggie to want out and be open to a trade.
Joe Nedney:
I'm also a Steelers fan so this is scary to say but could Jeff Reed be a long term addition? He is 8/9 years Nedney's junior and with this becoming a repeat injury I'm a little worried about our kicker going forward.

sfout, good analysis.
I tho am not a Sopoaga fan, and Love Heitmann, so I disagree with Sopoaga, but Heitmann will be here if healthy and we should draft a replacement for the future.

Recently, we haven't had many big free agents to worry about and that kind of goes along with not having great players. We can't keep all of them. Hopefully we sign the right ones and possibly tag one of them (assuming the CBA is intact) to keep as many as possible. What are your thoughts?
Alex Smith - Depends on the season but hopefully he resigns cheap if we want him
Vernon Davis - Should be signed first and foremost
Dashon Goldson - I'd prefer to resign him, Reggie has looked good but injury prone
Aubrayo Franklin - I think he goes elsewhere, hopefully RJF will be ready
Manny Lawson - If he doesn't lower demand he is probably gone
Ray McDonald - Sign for cheap... should compete with Soap for LDE
Takeo Spikes - Sign for vet min. as leader for Bowman, possibly starter
David Baas - Unless we see him as future at C no need to resign
Tony Wragge - Versatile vet but unless he signs for min. we probably can't resign
Karl Paymah - Could live without resigning... we will see how he does this year
Demetric Evans - Probably gone after this year
Brian Westbrook - Probably gone after this year... Dixon should be ready
Barry Sims - Probably gone or just let walk since he would be 36 next season
Jason Hill - Probably gone anyways
Please correct me if you see someone who isn't on here or shouldn't be on here.
Smith- Has to go. Time for Smith and this franchise to move on and it's best for both parties.
Vernon Davis- Done. Hopefully we get a coach that knows how to use him.
Dashon Goldson- Maybe it's the injury, but he clearly isn't the same. If any deal is offered, it should be dirt cheap, but we should let him walk.
Aubrayo Franklin- Can probably be had for much cheaper than what we would've paid last season. I'd like to see him in the 4-3 next year.
Manny Lawson- Definitely underappreciated around these parts. Has no become the pass rusher we'd like, but is a very good OLB and would do better in a 4-3 as well. Deserves a longterm deal.
Ray McDonald- Top back-up money. I hope to see him in our d-line rotation for years to come.
Takeo Spikes- two year deal. By the end of the 2011 season, we will know if Bowman is ready to take over in 2012.
David Baas- minimum deal offered. We can upgrade at C or G, but Baas is serviceable for now, or can be a backup that can play on anywhere on the interior of our line.
Tony Wragge- He can walk.
Barry Sims- 2 year minimum deal.
Brian Westbrook- has proven he still has something left in the tank. I'd like to see a 3 year deal, with Westbrook used more for his pass catching ability. A real offensive coach will know how to use his abilities. The jury is also still out on Dixon, whereas Westbook is a proven commodity.
The good news is there are no bank breakers here and the largest deal we may have to offer would be to Lawson, which probably won't be too excessive.

The only ones I really see worth signing are Baas, Manny, Spikes, Franklin, and Ray Mac...
I am perfectly okay with everyone else leaving. Some I would like to see stick around, but definitely not necessary...
Goldson - only if he stays for cheap. Then he can spell the youngsters. I don't think he is a liability, but more of a backup.
Westbrook - I think he could be good to spell Gore once in a while and if used in a limited role, I see him being very effective
Overall, I could see the roster changing quite a bit for the better. Our secondary is abysmal and needs an overhaul, our pass rush is embarassing, and our offense is ridiculous. All these spots are where we have several free agents. It may become a situation of "addition by subtraction."
