2011 49ers Free Agents - Be Ready!!!

I think we lose Lawson and Franklin next offseason. Brooks/Briggs hopefully will be ready to step into those shoes. RJF as well. I think we get VD and AS (pending his season) for sure. Goldson hopefully won't ask for a huge salary but we'll see. If he does, I think he's gone as well.

it's sad but i think lawson and goldson are going to ask for a lot as well as franklin.....either way we have brooks reggie smith and RJF but they are all downgrades. I wish we could sign the 3 of them but i think goldson will ask for a lot do to his agent Rosenb***h!

Say we resign Smith and Davis... if the CBA is in place we can franchise tag one of them. That's why we have to be picky when we resign because if we want we could hold off and just franchise tag one of them. Which one would you guys tag if it came down to Lawson, Franklin and Goldson?
If we win this year and Westbrook is a part of that, he'll be back. Other than that, I don't disagree with much. I really do hope we find out a way to keep Manny though, I'd hate to see him go. Then again, the young and hungry guys can step up. I like that Singletary gets a lot out of the players so I have confidence in someone filling Manny's role.

Tough choice, luckily we have good backups behind all 3 guys.

No question. Franklin. How long did we suffer playing 3-4 without a functional nose tackle?

The others are replaceable. Would be nice to keep, but if they price themselves out .......

This
Manny Lawson will have a big season!! Watch! We don't have a LB who can replace his pass coverage abilities, which is VITAL in the 3-4
Here's how I see it.

Alex Smith - stays
Vernon Davis - stays
Dashon Goldson - stays
Aubrayo Franklin - gone
Manny Lawson - gone
Ray McDonald - gone
Takeo Spikes - gone

David Baas - gone
Tony Wragge - gone
Karl Paymah - gone
Demetric Evans - gone
Brian Westbrook - gone
Barry Sims - gone
Jason Hill - gone

Ray Mac would be cheap to keep, I think he stays
I think Lawson is probably the most underrated guy on this team. The problem is that he plays the position that we have the most depth at. He's definitely gone but I'm sad to see him go

You can only invest so much in a LB corp. That said, Manusky needs a rangy OLB in his scheme. He was swapping 99 and M.Lewis around a couple years back. He's really poised to have a breakout year and it's going to tear all our hearts out if we let the first double digit sack artist (I'm hoping he puts up these kinds of numbers) we've had in years walk.
I just don't get why Manny thinks he needs a contract that is 6 years 42 million? I know he wasn't paid a whole lot in his rookie contract (5 year, 7.5mil) but I hope he understands we can't pay him that with all our other free agents. He just isn't worth that much and doesn't seem like that type of guy. If he takes less he has a shot to be with us next year... otherwise no shot.

Assuming he puts up like 10+ sacks I would offer like a 5 year 28 million or 6 year 32 million and call it more than fair. Remember we might have the franchise tag we could use on him if everyone else we want resigns.

Here's a MM article on the situation with the 2010 and 2011 free agents.

What percentage would you guys give these players of being resigned/tagged and on the team next year?

My guesses:
Vernon Davis 100%
Alex Smith 70%
Dashon Goldson 70%
Ray McDonald 60%
Takeo Spikes 40%
Aubrayo Franklin 30%
Manny Lawson 25%

David Baas - 30%
Tony Wragge - 30%
Karl Paymah - 25%
Brian Westbrook - 25%
Demetric Evans - 15%
Barry Sims - 15%
Jason Hill - 0%
