Signing a back-up QB does not preclude filling other needs as well, right?

David Carr is certainly a big upgrade from Shaun Hill. Sign Carr for 3 yrs @ 2 mill per year plus incentives makes it ~7.5 mil total. If he fails, you cut him and you pay the same as Hill ($2 mil per yr) for a back-up for two years.

And it's still possible that Carr could recover from PTSD = post traumatic SACK disorder, and become a very good QB.

Exactly this is an uncapped year. So go big on signing bonuses NOW! Eventually the cap will come back. 2011 or 2012. But we have a "self imposed cap" (YORKIE imposed cap) says Scot M.

Edit: Even if we don't sign Carr, it's hard for me to see Davis taking 2nd team reps away from Hill.
