He wouldn't be a solution genius, he would be a backup. Are there any brain cells left in your head???

You grossely overestimate the YORKIES.

Nevermind, I think it's pretty obvious at this point that you're just trolling. Please, feel free to go jump off a cliff.

This is who we are trying to sign with all the quality FA's out there.

We could get Julius Peppers, Boldin or Brandon Marshall.
But we want David Carr.

at the expense of re-signing Willis, Goldson and VD, remember these guys are gonna be FAs soon.

so yeah lets sign all these guys so a year from now we can here you b***h and complain how we werent able to keep Willis or Vd around and the yorkies f**ked up by letting them go

We can sign these guys and our FA's. The YORKIES are just cheap. We have lots of money under the cap. We just don't want to spend it.

Exactly this is an uncapped year. So go big on signing bonuses NOW! Eventually the cap will come back. 2011 or 2012. But we have a "self imposed cap" (YORKIE imposed cap) says Scot M.

Announcement should come soon of a deal or if the 49ers chose to pass.

F--K no! I don't think this should/will happen. WE HAVE MORE PRESSING NEEDS THAN QB

Signing a back-up QB does not preclude filling other needs as well, right?

David Carr is certainly a big upgrade from Shaun Hill. Sign Carr for 3 yrs @ 2 mill per year plus incentives makes it ~7.5 mil total. If he fails, you cut him and you pay the same as Hill ($2 mil per yr) for a back-up for two years.

And it's still POSSIBLE (50:50) that Carr could recover from PTSD = post traumatic SACK disorder, and become a reasonably good QB.

every team has a self imposed cap every year. Some teams (the redskins and raiders....) spend like crazy and don't get anywhere.
meh. i don't like Carr, but its clear that Hill doesn't have a future with the team, so I guess why not?

But Shaun Knows the offense & the team trusts him. What does this say of Nate D. if anything?
I just don't want him taking all the 2nd team reps in the offseason and preseason. Those need to go to Nate Davis.

Carr will most likely do just that.

Edit: Even if we don't sign Carr, it's hard for me to see Davis taking 2nd team reps away from Hill.

Correction: Even if we don't sign David Carr, I think this shows that the 49ers are looking to replace QB Shaun Hill.
I'd rather replace Hill with Nate Davis. Then mabye spend a 4th or 5th rounder on a QB and hopefully get lucky. This veteran backup s**t is slightly overblown imo. If we are in dire need of a vet QB we could easily sign one during the season.

Already off to a very disappointing off season. The disappointment is only gonna get worse.
David freakin carr? Shaun Hill gets no love in this life. He has a winning record but would have a really hard time landing on another team. David Carr on the other hand is perceived to be a viable back up worth 2-3 million per year.

God will kill kittens for this injustice.
