Source Carr asking for: 2-3 Million per year!

I am pissed. worthless signing if it happens. draft a qb in 3rd round, Tony Pike, Colt McCoy and Snead are better than carr and have more upside. Will be cheaper too.

Just the 49ers, Scot M., and the YORKIES at work.
Speculation is that Carr comes in and Shaun Hill goes out. Would the Niners save money by moving Shaun outta town?

It's no surprise, I remember Shaun Hill's 2008 contract ensured a $11.5 million dollar package worth of playing-incentives (which he had probably earned in full last season as the starting QB going into the 2009 season).

Since Alex is pretty much the declared starter going into 2010, having a backup over $6 million in 'base' salary with a weak arm (in a spread system), and limited faith from his coaching staff seems irrelevant.

Thats what I've been trying to say ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL along.

Signing TO would've been better, atleast he could help Smith.

You serious?
This will be the most embarrassing thing for me since I am a 9ers fan in Texas. I won't hear the end of this crap pile of a signing.

Has TO signed with a team yet? Oh right, he hasn't
1) Not a lot of money for a QB. Even a back up.
2) Our starters make back up money.
3) I can't be the only guy out there who understands why "on paper" Carr makes sense. Hill has been a great competitor for this team. He's a winner. BUT, he is no longer the starting QB and this is not his team. I'm glad that the team is behind Smith and Hill.(see overhyped Twitter stories) That being said. I believe this is now Smith's team to loose. I think this is about the back up job. The truth is that depending on if Smith or Hill is in we have to completely change the offensive options. Hill can not stretch the field and the running game suffers. Looking at Carr makes 100% sense as a back up. He has the arm and the experience to be every bit as good as Hill and he has the ability to stretch the field so that we don't have to change all the play calling if Smith comes out. If this says anything it is that the team is not sold on hill. No suprise. The news flash is that the team obviously isn't sold on Davis as the #2. Why should they be? Carr will surely push both Smith and Davis to be on the money with their throws and be consistent from a mechanical perspective.
4) If Smith were not still the projected starter then we'd be going after someone else at QB. Take this as what it is people. A minor off-season roster move that doesn't deserve all the fuss surrounding it.
