Jets coach Rex Ryan was noncommittal Monday when asked if FS Kerry Rhodes will be on the team in 2010.
Not a good sign for Rhodes if he wanted to stay in New York. Rhodes, who did earn his job back after a brief in-season benching, will command a good amount of interest on the trade or free agent market. The Jets, though, will have to decide his fate before March, when he is due a $2M roster bonus.

That'd be awesome to get him. We'd have a sick group of safeties, Goldson and Rhodes. Keep MLewis as the back up.

if we find a way to get rhodes and bush, this offseason will be epic. take 2 o-linemen in the first and i will cry tears of happiness.

yup, if we were to get rhodes it would most likely take a 2nd rounder, but that doesn't hurt. so.......

He has good size to play strong safety at 6-3 215. I don't know how he is in the box but I know he would be better in coverage than Lewis.
I wouldn't mind giving up our second to get him and maybe a fifth or later but I wouldn't give up a first for him. If the team did give up a second I hope they would trade back from 13 or 16/17 to regain that second rounder.

Rhodes is a free safety. Goldson would move to the strong side.

Yesterday he stepped on the field, got picked on, and burned for a TD. No thanks, I'll pass. I mean, he's playing backup to Donald Strickland for cripes sake.
Exactly.
He was getting burned all day long!

I'd Rather just resign walt harris... I think we will give him a 1 year deal if he still wants to play and if he thinks he's recovered enough too. I think him Nate, Spencer, Brown Bly and possible Draft pick would be ok, I'd rather look to upgrade the safety's.

At least the Jets know they are more than a kicker away.
The last time the team made a playoff run, they brought everyone back and drafted Mike Nugent. This time, there will be major changes. Here are some players that could be playing elsewhere next season.
Safety Kerry Rhodes: The New York Post writes that Rhodes' chances of returning are as likely "Rex Ryan running the New York Marathon." Ryan had a private conversation with Rhodes Monday he wouldn't speak about. But look for them to try to trade him. Ryan wants physical play from his safety and Rhodes is due a $2 million bonus inMarch.
Cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland: The team is expected to release both players. So the Jets need a lot of help in the secondary.
Vernon Gholston: As mentioned in today's one-liners, the Newark Star-Ledger reports that "some in the organization are ready to move on" from the sixth pick in the 2008 draft. They could cut him with cap ramifications . . . since there won't be a cap.
Thomas Jones: We wrote about this Sunday; the team faces a difficult choice considering the veteran running back's salary.
Add it all up, and it's clear the Jets won't be standing pat in what is shaping up to be a very competitive AFC East.

I would love to trade for Rhodes and Cleveland's Cribbs.
I know this trade will generate a few
and/or
Three team trade
49ers give: 16th/17th pick
49ers get: Cribbs and Rhodes
Browns give: Cribbs and a 3rd
Browns get: 16th/17th pick
Jets give: Rhodes
Jets get: Cleveland's 3rd.
I'd take the best returner in the game plus a proven starter at safety for the #16 pick.

I think it's pretty damning on Rhodes that Ryan doesn't want him around at all.

Take an OT at #13 and an OG with the 2nd round pick and I can honestly say I like it!

Personally, I would go.
#13 OT
2nd round Dexter McCluster--- could be a scat back and/or slot WR. (Unless Jahvid Best is still there for us.)
3rd round. Best OG or pass rusher (unless I took Jahvid best then I'm looking at the best WR available.)
