No he would not, he has been TERRIBLE!!

I'll be surprised if he even makes any teams roster next year

isnt that what people were saying about brooks?

I know this trade will generate a few and/or

Three team trade

49ers give: 16th/17th pick
49ers get: Cribbs and Rhodes

Browns give: Cribbs and a 3rd
Browns get: 16th/17th pick

Jets give: Rhodes
Jets get: Cleveland's 3rd.

I'd take the best returner in the game plus a proven starter at safety for the #16 pick.

Good thing you're not GM.

lmao i gotcha !

anyways, i would be surprised if the 9ers DON'T sign rhodes this offseason if released. leaves us with two 1st rounders to spend on some fat dudes.
I'd take em over Bly, as long as he would pass a legit physical that is.

I agree. I remember the wrap on this guy was that he was really raw and disappeared in games...he probably just needs some coaching along with less pressure to perform. I'd give him a chance over some 6th or 7th round guy...

Why would you massively overpay for Rhodes when you don't have to?

That's just illogical.

You re right. Neither do I. I never said give the Jets a 1st for Rhodes. The reality is it will likely take a 1st to land Cribbs. To which I wouldn't pay for straight to get him either. I would however pay that 1st round pick to get Cribbs if we can get Cleveland to pay a 3rd (or whatever) to give us Rhodes.

Regardless of what you guys say. He is an immediate upgrade for us at the Safety position. We have absolutely no idea what that draft pick is going to do for us. How he'll pan out. If this trade was to go down. We know we have a starting safety and the best kick returner in the game for our pick. 2 needs filled with one pick. No guess work! No hoping he pans out!

If I was GM starting in 05 this team would have been further along than we are now!

That would be huge for this franchise.

Michael Huff?

Nice, but if I was GM I would have taken the #6 for #15 and #22 deal Denver offered instead of 2nd and 3rd for #22 that we came up with. Thus no Michael Huff sorry.

#15, #22 & our 2nd and our 3rd round picks are better than just the #6 and #22. But that's just me.
Whats up with players like Vernon Gholston not panning out at all?

At least the Jets know they are more than a kicker away.

The last time the team made a playoff run, they brought everyone back and drafted Mike Nugent.  This time, there will be major changes.  Here are some players that could be playing elsewhere next season.

Safety Kerry Rhodes: The New York Post writes that Rhodes' chances of returning are as likely "Rex Ryan running the New York Marathon."  Ryan had a private conversation with Rhodes Monday he wouldn't speak about.  But look for them to try to trade him.  Ryan wants physical play from his safety and Rhodes is due a $2 million bonus inMarch.

Cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland: The team is expected to release both players.  So the Jets need a lot of help in the secondary.

Vernon Gholston: As mentioned in today's one-liners, the Newark Star-Ledger reports that "some in the organization are ready to move on" from the sixth pick in the 2008 draft.  They could cut him with cap ramifications . . . since there won't be a cap.

Thomas Jones: We wrote about this Sunday; the team faces a difficult choice considering the veteran running back's salary.

Add it all up, and it's clear the Jets won't be standing pat in what is shaping up to be a very competitive AFC East.

Let's take a flier on rhodes and gholsten it wouldn't hurt!
We better go after Rhodes if they let him go.
